Ticks

Just wanted to remind everyone to check themselves for ticks. And their dogs, kids...

That buck I shot Sunday was loaded with them.

I also pulled one out of my dog Sunday night. And Monday I was just in the backyard and had one crawling up my leg.

I have never seen them that bad here. Gives me the willies.

Deer and ticks definitely go hand in hand. Locations where hunters see deer almost every time out are typically places that are loaded with ticks. Hunt some areas in the Catskills and Adirondacks where it may be days before you see a deer and you can walk around the woods practically buck naked and you'll never get one on you.

The doe I got on Sunday was loaded. Iced down the doe and still they hung on. Last night, while getting frisky I noticed 2 on a very delicate region of my wife's anatomy. She was very unhappy to say the least. Got them off with a hot iron and I just dropped them off at the lab. Hope all comes back clear. Needless to say, she lost that loving feelIng, woooo es me!

you will never shoot a deer that is not loaded with them at any time of the year... kill a deer take the hide off and see whats on the surface the next day lol

I am sure just about every deer has ticks as well but a couple years ago I could hunt all season and never have one crawl on me. Now it seems I find at least one crawling on me every few trips out. They are noticeably a lot more prevalent than they used to be. Is that a sign of a bigger deer herd, more small game or birds? Dunno. Just reporting what I have noticed.

Watch for rashes that look like a bullseye anywhere on your body. I had one, and luckily I went to the doctors to get it checked out....Turned out I had lyme disease. Since I caught it early (blood test), they were able to treat it with antibiotics. It might have some effects later in life with my joints, but I guess ill have to wait and see.
