Killdeer Chicks

I've been watching a Killdeer on a nest for a month at work. She laid 2 eggs a month ago, then 2 more eggs a couple of weeks later which I found odd. They hatched early yesterday, were walking this morning. All 4 have hatched on the same day. By this afternoon they were running around like ping pong ball sized ostriches! After they hatched we watched the mother pick up the empty shells and carry them aways and drop them which was really neat. Here's a few pics I got of them this morning.

Great shots. Cool birds. They often nest on a local golf course - white staked while nesting. The moms get a little protective!

They came in late by me no chicks yet.I sometimes walk up to the nest or baby's to watch the mother pretend she has a broken wing.
