Nuisance Goose Hunting. Did I Miss Something?

I've been out there times so far during the early September season. Got 1 bird the first day and 1 bird on my second day. During September you are hunting the resident birds so you need to have a spot that they have been congregating unlike hunting the migrating birds in the Fall and Winter. Field hunting is near impossible as fields have not been cut yet. I haven't been out as much as I would like to as the mosquitoes have been unbearable this year along with the hot and humid weather. I prefer hunting the migrating birds in cold and bug free weather in the regular season.  valoroutdoors.com

Usually I'm itching to get out. I guess a combination of the heat, loads of work at home, ot at work, and somewhat a loss of interest in goose hunting for some reason this year has changed things. A few friends have had good days though.

I went one afternoon last weekend with my buddy and his two young kids.  Heard one flock but they never came in.  He went that morning and had two flocks circling but they would not land.

Before hunting that day I was mowing my pasture fields and was within 50 yards of 10 geese lounging around the pond.  I could have easily snuck up on them and taken out two or three.  The same group were in the same spot the next day.  I do love goose pastrami so maybe this weekend….
