On my way to meet [mention=762]chef[/mention] and [mention=2496]ATbuckhunter[/mention] at the Hudson River for stripers, I pulled over in pleasantville at a random pond for 5 casts with a little spinner and caught this sunny miss half its head. Just got to the Hudson

Finally on the fly!!!
I stopped at the creek I was catching the brown trout at and picked a small one off right away, but it snapped my lie and took off with my spinner. They where jumping out of the water but I couldn’t reach them so I left. Headed to a stream with brook trout. I wanted to try a dry dropper first cast it went I thought I snagged bottom second cast a bang fish on I fumbled the net and lost it. After awhile I noticed the where just going for the nymph so I took the dry off. I don’t know how many I actually landed, but it was awesome!!!!!

There really a Beautiful fish.
Hopefully there still there tomorrow.

That is so great. Nothing is prettier than a brookie. If you have a place with brookies like that cherish and enjoy it.

Hit it again today this time they wanted the dry fly. Now I understand why people like dry flies over the nymph. I was pretty cool watching them slurp the fly in. I’m pretty hooked on it now I just need to upgrade a few things. The damn net kept falling out of my belt causing all kinds of trouble with my line. I caught 17 and missed twice as many.

These where the flies. I had to take the nymph off it kept foul hooking the fish.

I figured I'd better start writing the where,when and what I'm using to give me a heads up next year.I think its called a blue dunn it was the closest one to the white flies flying around.They are very aggressive little fish.

Probably till around 11:00 tomorrow.  I was planning on hitting the park around 6:00 am in the morning, if the weather is ok.

Hahah can’t do tomorrow AM. I have some guys coming to help move my chicken coop 50 ft from the property line since a clown of a neighbor complained

Hopefully, them stripers will like my minnow pattern black and white bucktail jigs with a rubber shad tail trailer.  They worked good on spotted bass in the Pacific last year.

Went fishing with hubby today . No fish :( but the toads were in a  mating mood . Had to be over 40 of them . I also learned something I didn't know . I always thought toads didn't like water and had their eggs in puddles or some place damp . No they lay them in water while they are mating.

Only a branch, some fishing line, and a sinker (which I disposed of the in the trash can).  Same as last fall, I didn’t even have a bite on the jigs.   Nobody else was fishing, but a guy walking a dog said that bloodworms work good for bait, but to watch out for the eels and catfish.  My lifetime record, of zero fish of any kind caught in the Hudson, remains intact.  
 

There were lots of Canada geese around and some young ones are hatched.  A sign on the docks said to beware of tics.  It was a bit cool out there at sunrise, I should have brought a warmer shirt or a light jacket.

That sinker was most likely once owned by the “artist formerly known as Jerkman”
