The November Buffalo blizzard of 22 cost me my first opening day of deer season in WNY in 40 years, but at least I caught this 14” (est) spotted bay bass out in SanDiego bay, as a consolation prize yesterday morning.  It went for a hand-tied, 1/4 oz WNY bucktail jig, tipped with a black & white rubber swim bait:

Absolutely amazing day out of Montauk, wife and I caught 2 keeper stripers within the first 10 minutes then Caught and released over 30 more before we threw in the towel.

Had a hour to fish this evening.  Nice smallie.  Ultra light tackle and 2 lb test line.  Nice fight.

Nice small mouth! That must have felt fun on the light weight gear. Was it a fighter and jumper?

It put up a good fight for about 5 minutes, leaping clear out of the water 3 times.  I set the drag very light and it peeled a lot of line.  It was fun and I released it shortly after taking a couple of quick pics.
