Interesting find while on a walk

Went on a quick walk with son and dog. Dog found the following. Just in the middle of a field.

If no evidence of a gun/bow or hit by a car, it could have been poison.   I think we had a member here that talked about that?

What's really strange is the two squirrels laying next to the yote.

Found as shown in the photo. Didn't get a good look. Was trying to keep the dog away, hadn't noticed the 2 squirrels at first and wasn't sure what killed the coyote. I'm pretty sure it was shot, the squirrels too. Just weird to be left like that.

There were trees nearby. I should have looked for a trail camera. Maybe setup to see what scavengers pop up. I plan to be out in the area next weekend, might look around a bit more.

Perhaps a small game hunter got a couple squirrels. Then got a lucky shot on the coyote? Pure speculation though on my part. But why dump the squirrels? I've never seen anything like that before!

It's just the staging of the carcasses that makes it weird.
