  1. Today
  2. Hunted 5:30 to 7:30 heard a gobble at 5:45 then again around 6:30. Way off in the distance, that was it. Great sunrise!
  3. Day 3...this is strange here. Not a single gobble or turkey seen so far this season. Still nice to be out here though. Good luck to all out there
  4. Headed out in a few. No wind and clear should be a good morning! I have three hours to hunt before work. Hope to get it done!
  5. I’m shooting 20 gage 3” mag turkey load full choke
  6. Yesterday
  7. I threw away the box it came in and there are no markings on the target itself, I am pretty sure it was purchased at a Runnings store, they stock and sell a lot of steel targets. Al
  8. Turkey choke is the way to go. I pattern at 40 yards, using 1 inch grid paper. Needs to be a minimum of 2 pellets in each square for me to be happy. Usually a lot more, using my 3 and 1/2 inch number 7 Hevi-shot.
  9. At least you guys are out there. I'm not able to get back into the woods until Monday- if the weather holds.
  10. Wont hurt to try a turkey choke to see how much better it would be at that range or if you have a 35-40 yard shot
  11. Looks like the catering supplies for Willie Nelson's 91st birthday celebration.
  12. Ok so I set a target up at 27 yards the number 4 s 2-3/4 only had like 2 pellets in the head The number 5s 3” mag pic below Should I try a turkey choke or ? thx
  13. Not to go off topic but can you kill a Turkey at 40 yards not hitting him in the neck or head?
  14. I had a Tom walk up the clover field gobbling around 6 PM last night. Crossed the road and my corn field. Let out the dogs at 6:30 and he blowing up in my field. I'll hunt tomorrow. Good luck guys!
  15. At it again. The birds were nonexistent in my area yesterday and no gobbles so far again this morning. Off work until May 7 and still so nice to be out here watching the woods wake up.
  16. The gun should tell you whether you need a turkey choke by patterning it. If you can get an even pattern and a minimum of 100 pellets in a 10” circle at 40-yds, you’re good to go. 100 pellets seems to be the sport’s standard and I use it. In addition, I would not assume one brand of shot is better than another without patterning. Some guns could be finicky with the load size and amount going down the barrel. Bottom line: Pattern your gun. Good luck to you [emoji256]
  17. So I’m seeing lots of birds on my trail cam I want to use my 20ga 1187 3” mag with 28” bird barrel I have a full choke tube , do I need a turkey choke ? I have 2-3/4 “ 4 Shot Remingtons or Kent 3” number 4 and 5 shot Turkey , assume the Kent’s would be best ? Should I camo wrap my gun or doesn’t it really matter ? Thanks for the help This pic is from the other day
  18. Last week
  19. I had 7 deer come by the decoys. A button buck spent a half hour trying to figure them out. After they left a tom with three hens came across the corn field. I shot at 40 yards. 3" nitro shot. Hens flew off but the Tom did not follow and flew off in another direction. I looked for 2 hrs but found nothing. Had 5 jakes going crazy an hour later but could't get close enough. It was a good morning!
  20. I had a hen at 10 yards of my decoys , but not Toms behind her. I did hear lots of gobbling. I did notice that there was a lots of pressure around me. Crazy because I would expect that on Saturday but not on Wednesday. Congrats to those who punched thier tag.
  21. Nephew and I doubled up at 6:55 this morning. Fun hunt.
  22. I had a chance to trade a hundred bales of hay for a trio of 2 year old Red Bourbons a while back. Didn't figure the turkeys were worth 300, and I don't have to feed the hay.
  23. Had a big gobbler cross in front of the car last evening. Wouldn't luck have it. Lots of fog this morning. Plenty of deer sightings, no turkey yet.
  24. No gobbles here either. Good luck all out there today!
