  1. REDNECK FISHERMAN A redneck was stopped by a game warden in Central Mississippi recently with two ice chests full of fish. He was leavin' a cove well-known for its fishing. The game warden asked the man, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?" "Naw, sir", replied the redneck. "I ain't got none of them there licenses. You must understand, these here are my pet fish." "Pet fish?" "Yeah. Every night, I take these here fish down to the lake and let 'em swim 'round for awhile. Then, when I whistle, they jump right back into these here ice chests and I take 'em home." "That's a bunch of hooey! Fish can't do that." The redneck looked at the warden for a moment and then said, "It's the truth Mr. Government Man. I'll show ya. It really works." "O. K.", said the warden. "I've got to see this!" The redneck poured the fish into the lake and stood and waited. After several minutes, the warden says, "Well?" "Well, what?," says the redneck. The warden says, "When are you going to call them back?" "Call who back?" "The FISH," replied the warden! "What fish?," replied the redneck. ............ Moral of the story: We may not be as smart as some city slickers, but we ain't as dumb as some government employees.

  2. That sounds like a reasonable statement on the face of it, but the sad truth is that the wrong people use a statement like that to effect my rights even though I never did anything wrong. That same statement can be applied to children also. It would read like this: " there is no way to guarantee that a child gun will stay in the hands of a responsible and trained adult once it leaves the womb store(as this case proves), I believe that there needs to be more control of them children." Wouldn't that make more sense? When I was raised Mom stayed home and knew what was going on with us. She even snooped on us and once confiscated my favorite pocket knife hidden in my room. I think parents need to get back to parenting. I would be curious to learn more about his upbringing or lack thereof. I don't think the firearm should be blamed. He could have done alot more damage with a gallon of gas in the right place. The greatest mass murder in NYC before 9/11 was close to a hundred people and the killer used a gallon of gas. Funny how no one called for banning gas to drunks with no car.

  3. Maybe I just lived in a sheltered area, but I don't remember hearing of any of this crap way back when I grew up.I know this will probably et some of the hold hands and sing songs folks upset ...but.remember when a cople of people had an issue they walked out behiind the school and settled it. Then it was done. You always were careful about bullying anyone because they had friends or an older brother and that would result in a butt whooping. You never harassed a girl ...see previous result. I just don't get what is happening.

  5. I have used a shotgun on squirrels. I actually don't relate that to any kind of marksmanship success or failure....lol. Generally, I am looking for a quick meal, and don't really try to apply a whole lot of "challenge" to the activity. It's simply meat-gathering .... pure and simple and I'm not very interested in shooting only at "posing" squirrels.

  6. Lost respect???Ha that was done along time ago. Some might have hit close to home!! I dont see anyone else have the sac to stand up and defend what they believe in and speak for many. I dont see where race had anything to do with this post. If it was kept where it was headed this post would be 4 pages shorter!!

  9. So you set me up I see for this gun control argument LOL!! But seriously, we don't know at least not yet, where this kid got this gun. It could have been a legally purchased gun by his parents or guardian, and this kid managed to get his hands on it. Or he could have gotten it from someone on the street for all I know. I'm sure we'll find this out soon enough. But no matter where he managed to get the gun from, the results would be entirely different if another responsible adult was able to legally arm themselves.

  11. I use the 12 gauge on squirrels because that's the only shotgun I have and some of the best areas for squirrels near me are shotgun only areas. I prefer my 22LR or I'll take headshots with my 17HMR but rules are rules and so often I'm forced to carry my shotgun. I also try not to shoot at a moving squirrel. I would say 90% of my shots are at posing squirrels. Yes, no challenge at all but I don't just see if I can hit the squirrel, I also look at the background...think about what direction I'm shooting...think about my target and beyond...and I think about it twice before I pull the trigger. I do not shoot at a flash ofgrey that streaks by. I guess that makes me a horrible shooter. Then again, this isn't a pissing contest. I have no desire to claim that I can out shoot anyone. I'm just satisfied knowing any game I've taken was taken humanely, expired quickly if not instantly, and all my shots has been safe.

  14. Doc, many towns/villages have their own no discharge of firearms..and by state defintion this includes bows, i cant tell you the number of people i see practicing in a village that has a no discharge of firearm law, shooting their bow illegal but ignored by local law enforcement . several caome to mind... lancaster, depew, west seneca, cheektowaga off the top of my head right around buffalo... if this was truly so dangerous wouldn't local pd stop them? there is no reason not to reduce this for bow it seems that the bow got lumped back in with firearms at the statelevel when the 500' rule was enacted, its time to remedy this error...

  16. Early, why do you always attack on a personal level? It seems that you like to throw insults at whatever group or individual has a different viewpoint than you. It's a pattern with you, and it bugs me. Not everybody was seeing eye to eye on this thread, but any disagreement was done respectfully, until you showed up. Take Doewhacker for example. He does not agree with my viewpoint (or the viewpoint of several others) on this issue, but he doesn't start insulting and acting like a little kid. I have a lot of respect for that. You respect no one, and therefore deserve no respect yourself. You feel free to start your B.S. anytime you don't get your way, or anytime you feel like you are not winning an argument. This is not middle school, no one is impressed / intimidated by your witty remarks. Class it up a little, will you?

  17. I wish I can, bkln, but season's never open in NYC. I'm not even mentioning the tons of rock pigeons, starlings, and european sparrows that's every where. The coyote is the main concern. I walk my dog at night and I let her run around the park off the leash. She weights 12 lbs which is the equivalent of a Happy Meal for a coyote.

  18. This isn't romaticized back woods deer hunting, this is inner city deer population control. If you dont like it then don't do it. But some people dont mind it. It is what it is. I would rather have that deer shot over my grave ( though there is no proof that happened ) by a bow hunter, than some car run it down or some government sanctioned hit squad bait him and shoot him in the head.

  20. Has anyone on this thread called him an idol? I haven't seen that. Nor do I consider him an idol. I see him as a great spokesman and supporter for 2nd amendment rights that's it. I don't even care so much for his music. But I don't know of anyone else who has the "sac" as Four Seasons has said above, to stand up for our gun rights like he does.

  25. It is truly saddening that the way that this thread has developed has taken the point of the OP which was pointing out Ted's ability and fearlessness to support and stand up for gun owners rights and the 2nd amendment and has been turned into a hate bashing rhetoric of how "racist" some on this board may think he is. I don't give a rats a$$ about Ted's opinions on people's race or ethnic backgrounds. That is his opinion and last I checked he's guaranteed that right under the constitution, and likewise that right extends to all of you who call him a racist. But I give a lot more than a rats a$$ if our guns and our 2nd amendment rights are continuously restricted and eventually taken away. He tells it like it is with facts and statistics. When it comes to protecting my rights I want him in my corner.
