  2. I was in at Dicks yesterday, looking around while the wife was shopping. A couple was standing there looking at the minerals and attractants. The sales associate speaks up (without the customers saying anything to him) and says, "Just so you know, those are illegal to use in NYS UNLESS you use them for photography purposes, that's why they are right next to the game cams." They thanked him for the info, then the sales associate says, "I'm not only here to sell, but also to educate." WTH???? Oh, that dumb B@$^#%*!! Some people would be better off just not opening their mouth! I just chuckled, shook my head, and walked away! That's why I NEVER ask for opinions from the guys that work at some of these sporting good stores/departments!! I pick up some pretty good deals there sometimes, but I wouldn't ask for any advise!

  3. What were you hunting during that time? Rhino... Elephant? 60 lbs. for me does the job. My recurve has a draw weight of 49#.

  4. IMO with the speeds of the new bows going with a heavier draw weight if you plan on just hunting wht tail or even blk bear isn't worth screwing up your shoulder or having a difficult time drawing should "buck fever" start to get the best of you...that happens to ppl more than one might think...or anyone admits...I'm shooting 49#'s and having clean pass through s at 38 yrds...

  5. My bow is currently set to 52. I can probably go up to 60 without any issues but haven't felt the need. I rather be able to pull back smooth and effortlessly than having to have a herky jerky motion. Being quiet and stealthy to me is more important than any advantages gained from the extra draw weight.

  8. Damn Sampotter! That is a whole lot of acreage. I have a hard time making hay on our 96 acres, couldn't imagine doing that. I know you're just chopping for silage now, but that must still take a few days. Awesome.

  9. I just want to thank all the real farmers for all that you do. It's pretty cool to me. Seriously.

  10. I've been pretty specific about the situations that I am talking about. If that isn't your situation, then I guess I am not talking about what you are doing.

  11. Your first shot is the one that counts. The rest are just for practicing your shooting form. Too much shooting in 1 session can lead to fatigue, which in turn can cause you to lose your form. If you shoot alot using bad form you can/will pick up bad habits, like dropping your bow arm or torquing the bow. If your torquing the bow alot, install a bow sling and shoot with an open hand.

  13. No offense to your friend, but that test does not hold water for several different technical reasons... Reason number one is that generally when a barrel is "shot out" it means that it is suffering from throat erosion, which occurs near the chamber, rather than at the muzzle. Seating depth and differing bullet ogives are a couple more reasons that it would be invalid. The best test to see if your rifle has accuracy problems is to shoot some groups with it. Many supposedly "shot out" barrels only need a thorough cleaning to restore thier accuracy.
