Hey folks. Let me show you this rub from about a week ago. In bad weather the deer often go bed in my hemlocks. At first I thought it was blood, where a deer slammed up against the tree after being shot. But, when I put my flashlight right up to it I could see it was the color of the bark below the surface and had been rubbed. It looks like brow tines or the base of the skull, as you can see where the other points ticked the bark off to the left side of the rub area. I have never seen a tree this large rubbed by a deer anywhere. Judging from the impressions in the bark it must have some real width.

This has been an on and off active scrape since October. Looks to be on again.

I did a walk about 2pm. Walked my lease property. Two freshly opened scrapes and more rubs you can count. Crossed the seasonal road. There is an area that had a microburst years ago. All the trees came down and lay horizontal to the road. I can gaurentee a deer comes out of there every time I walk it down. Its a pain but pays off. This year I'm tagged out for bucks. don't you know it about 1 minute in I see a real nice buck get up from the middle of the blow downs. He headed west real quick. Even if I had a tag no shot. I was cool to see, I have cameras out so maybe he will be on one.

Yikes what a thought! lol Her back legs are there but under the leaves. She's laying on the side I shot. I worry about putting to much specific in case anyone anti reads this stuff. It is not always pristine. Or silent, as I was reminded yesterday. Basically, being so close to me the first shot was too high and put her down, the second shot thankfully was in the exact right spot and quickly finished the job .

I'm surprised how much late season rub and scrape activity is going on out there this year.

Windy morning; again. Thought deer might move before this front came through. Didn't see one, but found this fresh scrape from last night.

Some great eating right there. Congrats on a great late season hunt. Enjoyed your story. Nice outcome.

Just took a big doe with muzzle loader. Three came in and only two left. : ) Picture is from my stand.

7m. Around 36 degrees, slightly overcast with some patches of blue, slight breeze, and wet snow covered ground. Very pretty but this far no deer. Quite a few shots off in the distance.

Overcast, light Southeast breeze at 39 degrees. Great morning sit, but not looking for meat.

Nothing but a beautiful sunset. I'll take it!

Now that sunrise is so nice to watch brighten. Makes it all worth while Here was my sunrise this morning, lol.
