Got a late start. End of season tiredness and fell back to sleep. Now on stand in 7m. Just when you think it could not get prettier you are blessed with a morning like this to behold.

Bull moose then during the bow season an 8 ptr and the biggest doe I’ve ever taken. Every available freezer is stuffed, wife’s not thrilled.

Michigan Bear hunter Art Jackson and his 1943 record Black Bear. State game managers measured the beast at 6' 6 1/2" long and 5' 7" in girth. Its hind feet were 9" long and 4 1/2" wide. and its front feet were 8" long and 5 1/2" wide. Reports say the bear weighed 873 pounds. Art killed 109 bears during his 70 year hunting career.

Went out yesterday evening to fill my doe tag and was successful. Got a nice fat doe that will fill my freezer to the brim as the third deer going in it this season. I'll also be able to present a few friends with some venison to try for the first time. If (when) they like it, I tell them they will have to come hunt with me to get some more in the future. It was a good year for me. I'll be enjoying tenderloin and backstraps for quite some time in 2024. Now I start getting serious about hunting yotes.

Went out this evening saw a young doe cross about a hundred plus yard in front of me . I knew she was going to a field I could put a sneak up to and possibly get a shot. I decided to not chase her. It’s that time of year that my motivation to harvest a deer is very low. It was good just to be out in God’s great outdoors

Went out with my neighbor. We both shot at the same doe and missed. Did some pushes but nothing. Sat in the lease field stand tonight it was beautiful but no deer. Need a food plot up there. While doing my pushes I found two dead heads. Also a view from the stand.

Perfect morning out in the open. A nice doe with three pretty small deer with her. I choose to pass. I have a feeling antlers are behind me, LOL

Aim Well !

This morning we got out again. Our friend Danny came along with his girlfriend Nicole. Danny had shot his first deer hunting with us on the second day of gun season this year. Early on 4 ducks came in and we bagged 3 of them. The goose hunting was slow with many high flying migrators going over us. We had to leave at 11:30 and at 11:15 we called in a big single goose. Nicole had never shot a goose and we decided that she would get the first shots. Nicole slammed the bird with her first shot. We were all so proud and so happy for her. That makes 2 firsts for the couple hunting with us this year. And of course my lab Waylon made a great retrieve.

Buddy got a 5 point on my land opening day and I tagged a nice 8 point the day after Thanksgiving. ML season has been a bust. Still going to hunt the Holiday hunt to try and fill my doe tag.
