  1. Nice buck! Is that wound from your arrow? Looks green…guts?
  2. And yes, I killed that deer in blue jeans and old school treebark camo. It was like 1992 out there.
  3. He weighed 155 lbs dressed. So happy to have meat for the freezer. Thanks. Who doesn’t like a big six!
  4. Few more pics at the kill site. I started to hear grunting and commotion to my left and saw a buck darting in and out of the woods and field edge 80 yards away. 15 minutes later the big doe walks out feeding in the field, the smaller 6 comes out just watching her, both are 20 yards away. Not a minute goes by and the bigger buck comes out from my right where two scrapes are located. His ears were pinned back and he was lookin to fight. Once he hit my opening i let one fly. He ran 15 yards and tumbled. First deer from the ground and its pretty awesome. Me nephew is learning quick and held the light as we gutted, he is 10 and rearing to go.
  5. Big six down!!! From the ground!!! More pics and story later
  6. Out in a ground blind which is not my usual set up. The neighbor next door has guys parking where i wanted to go. Not a huge fan of that but oh well not my call. Not a lot of hope but we shall see
  7. Ive been looking for a 44 lever as well. Everything starts at a grand. New or used.
  8. Had a few deer bust over the ridge like a bat outta hell into the thicket. All quiet now.
  9. .44 mag is a 100 yard deer rifle. Ammo is easier to find than .243 these days. But if i had to choose myself i would go .243. It just has more range.
  10. They’re up and moving this morning. Headed to a stand that is deep on the. property. We still have some corn standing around this woods but this bedding generally brings bucks looking. I just hate the looooong walk in.
  11. Well thats not the issue then. We have had years like that when the deer just vanish. However there is usually standing corn involved in that scenario.
  12. Car doors slamming on tv really get mine going.
  13. Wow thats a classic. Cams are just a form of fun for me. I dont use them as a tool at all. All my hunting spots are a mile away.
  14. Has the thick cover been pushed out to have more tillable ground? Have the once thick hedgerows and thickets grown to more mature open woods? Cover holds deer.
  15. Great shooting! Im toting a .44 mag this year for the first time. I bought a new to me S&W 29-2 in march. Im using Winchester 240 grain soft points. I have been carrying my Smith 19-4 with barns vor-tx 140 all copper hallow points for two years. No kills with the revolvers yet. Hope this is the year.
  16. I have had dogs chasing deer in my woods before. I went to the neighbors house to kindly ask them to chain up the dog. Well she obliged kindly after the dog bit me on their porch haha. I couldn’t shoot a pet over a deer.
  17. Definitely. A family member of mine thinks they are an 80 yard proposition!
  18. The dog had an orange collar and the hunter was a trespasser
  19. Uh yeah that total BS. Can you imagine people shooting at alerted/running deer with archery equipment! Im laughing just thinking about it.
  20. That happened to my parents neighbor. Bad thing is it was a black lab not a coyote. Criminal charges were pressed on the hunter and he lost his license for life. However, if it was a dog that looked like a coyote and didn’t have a collar he may have had a case.
  21. We babysat two neighbor girls and i have a puppy at home. Between barking and crying this morning hunt wasn’t happening. I couldn’t imagine waking them up at 430 making coffee, wife would probably shoot me with my own bow. So ill do mid day to dark.
