  1. I live in the boonies and i agree there. I have to drive a half hour minimum for anything decent. An hour for something really good. One can always get some at any wegmans but that is only ok. Closest wegmans is still a half hour away. Is what it is…
  2. It’s starting in my area which is 8F.
  3. Finger lakes nf has a good deer population. Good luck whichever you choose.
  4. Im in 8F so bears aren’t exactly common. Its all farm land here with no vast pine cover like bears like. Although, within a 2 mile stretch on my road two neighbors have seen/ gotten bear pics on camera. One of them works for me and has seen a sow with cubs cross the road in front of his house. This was three years ago. I would love to try some bear meat.
  5. Yes. Save your wife the headache of having to move again in something were to happen to you. She can always sell the land. Land is an easy sell.
  6. Broken brow tine or didnt grow? Beautiful mount.
  7. Savage 99 collectors get together you say? I’m interested in such an event
  8. My dream adventure. At some point in my life i would love to spend a few months there. Looks like beautiful county.
  9. That is the load i use in my wife’s TC Venture compact. Although i did have a round not fire on a coyote deer hunting last fall. Deep dent in primer too. Two or three different boxes and lots were effected. Very strange as Hornady has always been top notch. I probably should have contacted them but i just used them up at the range. Congratulations on a fantastic buck.
  10. Never had one go far enough to bother. I generally go spine, neck, head shots with sub 24 cal rounds.
  11. Ive used that on whitetail. Works well. Hard to find now.
  12. I dont mind 22 cal for deer hunting. However, its not a novice caliber and bullet type and placement are paramount. Something like these are more suitable.
  13. I still shoot recreationally every week. My ammo supply can support my habits for quite some time. Even if i do run low, I can pull out the ol’ RCBS and put a few rounds together. I actually bought a pellet gun last year and have yet to even sight it in…
  14. Problem is the hedgerow is not much bigger than a ground blind. Plus it is a boundary line so it’s mostly rock. Not exactly blind territory. Ill post a picture of what im working with tomorrow. The blind would would stick out like a sore thumb.
  15. It is but the best spot to set up him is in a skinny hedgerow filled with rocks. Getting up above is always my preference. I always over look the ground blind. Maybe ill scope out a spot.
  16. Another decent one has been showing up. Were trying to figure out how to set up on him. One of those deals where no big trees around. Im considering putting up a pole here to hang stands in. Unfortunately i have been too busy to hunt. Hopefully my brother gets a shot.
  17. How about these beauties? Pretty good size on these.
