  1. We can imagine whatever we want about how the media has twisted the story, or prior warnings, or any other dreamt-up version of what went on. The imagination is a wonderful thing .... lol. But, actually there really is no point in discussing the incident at all if we are going to dream up our own scenarios. Do I believe that the incident happened exactly as reported? Yeah, I sure do, and that is based strictly on the preponderance of similar goofy acts taken by schools all over this country on things related to guns. I have no reason to doubt that such a thing could happen, exactly in the way it was reported. The educational system is determined to imprint their values and attitudes regarding guns on every individual who passes through their system, and they don't particularly care what ridiculous and contemptible methods they use. They will not be happy until the word gun is stricken from the approved vocabulary of every student. And it is our tax dollars that support this foolishness. Frankly I am getting damned sick of it and I am getting damned sick of all the apologists for that system and their liberal leanings and influences on our youngsters.
  2. It is not necessary to be in the majority to influence an election. A large minority block of voters (like gun owners and other that sympathize with supporting the 2nd Amendment) can have an impact if the passions run high enough to get better turnout at the polls that the majority. Also, minority interests can have greater impact when their voting choices happen to align with others who have different gripes with Cuomo (and there are many). I have not given up on turning the political make-up of this state yet. A lot of the future of gun control rides on this election. We need solidarity in our voting direction. Even well intentioned discouragement is something that we really don't need at this point in the election year. I am convinced that a well-motivated and passionate and large block of voters can pull off the upset. But we can't bury ourselves in hopelessness and self-pity and throw in the towel before the fight even begins.
  3. You're right. It seems that every time I wanted to get out and do something, the weather was so brutal that I never really got anything done. What a weird winter!
  4. Wait until the first time you use it. You will be cringing each time you have to wack a little harder with it. It is something that just seems to be an un-natural act to be sitting there beating away on a live round of ammunition ..... lol. I have done a few, and I still always cringe when I use it. Yeah, I know it's perfectly safe ...... I think.

    Sad Day

It's a hard thing to deal with, and it is not something that you ever get to accept any easier. As you get older, these things get more frequent as your circle of friends also age. No one can ever say or do just the right thing to make the grief pass. Only time can do that. The best anyone can do is what has already been mentioned, focus on the good times with a celebration of his life.
  6. I wonder why no one ever takes these ridiculous situations to court. The kid is being deprived of his rightful educational time, and I would think that that sort of action would have to be a proven case of being disruptive or something that would incite criminal behavior. And there is nothing about the NRA that promotes those kinds of problems. I doubt there is a school district anywhere that could legally justify in court that kind of action if they were legally challenged. Eventually, this is going to happen to a wealthy family that can afford the legal action ..... I hope.
  7. Damn! that looks good.
  8. I can imagine Andy chuckling out loud while reading this. He knows that there are no such restrictions on him. He makes the rules as he goes along, and thanks to NYS apathy, he gets away with it. I intend to do my part to attempt to unseat this evil character, but I have to admit that we likely have lost complete control over our government. It remains to be seen how it all turns out, but I am beginning to fear the worst. Politics has become an exact science that all the characters in our government have mastered. They all know the impotence and lack of dedication that has taken over the voting public.
  9. What is with these damned ducks and geese that they don't know about migration? Is it just my imagination, or does it seem to anyone else that these critters seem to wintering more and more in NYS than they used to. My Gosh, the geese in Canandaigua are amazing numbers, all through the winter. I can't imagine how they survive.
  10. First-light- The Youtube version worked great. Thanks for posting it. That is absolutely the best hunting video that I have ever seen.
  11. For some unknown reason, My computer would not play the video part, but the audio came through ok. Simply listening was a blast. I have never heard such excitement in a little kid over anything.
  12. So now that we are deeply involved in "global cooling" are we supposed to run outside and start spraying some aerosol cans around in the air? .....lol.
  13. Currently it is a law that can not be complied with, which voids it's implementation until such time as a system enabling compliance is established. That certainly sounds like a perfectly good legal argument for anyone that would care to challenge it. And, who knows perhaps there would be no real legal need to challenge it.
  14. Actually, in my area it is typical to have at least one of these March storms. In fact it was a March storm a bunch of years ago that required me to get a payloader in to open up my driveway. So March has not been a kind month to me, more often than not.
  15. I'm not sure about any legal restrictions involving opening up an abandoned town road. We recently had a thread about that sort of thing and the possible legal ramifications involved. Could be something you might want to check with the highway superintendent of the town first. See if the township has a web-site with town phone numbers.
  16. The tags tell me that they had intentions of coming back for them. Also, if the tags are filled out, that kind of say that they were most likely acquired legally.
  17. Yup, it's a sellers market when it comes to ammo. They don't need NYS business enough to put up a fight. But I can see how the OP might have become a bit confused. We have a system that has created a defacto ban on mail-order ammo sales even when the mechanism to enforce that part of the law doesn't exist. Chalk it up to another wack on gun owners that Andy and his minions have gotten away with.
  18. If I understand it all correctly, the problem with mail order purchases of ammo was relating to the fact that the Safe Act required back-ground checks which are only valid when performed "in-person" (not possible with mail order). But, The background check portion of the Safe Act is voided by the fact that no such background check system exists. I believe that mail order houses could continue to sell to NYS up until a background check system is devised, if the companies had the stones to test the law.
  19. My guess: Hunter or hunters were unfamiliar with hunting area. Went out to get help for dragging. Couldn't find the exact spot where they left the deer.
  20. Do not sell this devious minded, treacherous politician short either on a state level or national level. I have seen this creep perform all kinds of havoc on the Constitution that everyone swore up and down would be impossible for any Governor to do. And yet here it is and it is beginning to look more and more like we are powerless to undo it. I truly hate under-estimation. It is a weakness that more often than not comes around to bite us in the butt. Take this guy as the serious threat that he is and don't be taking anything for granted. Just because a guy is evil doesn't mean that he's stupid.
  21. Here's the deal, Cuomo is a proven anti-gun advocate as extreme on that end as they can get. He also has demonstrated the ability to get (force) legislative support for his anti 2nd Amendment beliefs. That is a combination that has already been demonstrated and gives us all an inkling of where he would take his beliefs in the future. There is no doubt in my mind that he must be replaced, and it really doesn't even matter by who. And the same thing can be said about every legislator that voted for the Safe Act.
  22. I have a story of a deer that I killed years ago that was the result of a deflection off a small unseen raspberry stalk that was almost in front of the deer. The arrow that was directly on its way to a perfect lung shot took a sudden flip just before it got to the deer and passed through it's neck. As luck would have it the arrow deflected into the neck and severed the jugular vein, and proved to be a very devastating shot. So, did I from that day forward always consider archery neck shot to be a viable shot selection just because it was so lethal that one time? Absolutely not. I felt very lucky to not have had a major disaster on my hands. There are certain rump shots that are super lethal if you happen to be so lucky as to hit the femoral. Good shot selection? ..... Not in my estimation. Don't be too impressed with a low percentage shot that happens to get lucky. It doesn't make it a good shot selection.
  23. Well, I'm trying desperately not to twist this thread too far off topic, but in my world, not voting at all is not an option. There is an opportunity to send a pro-2nd Amendment message this fall, and I will not pass up that once in a lifetime opportunity that gun owners have been given. Mr. Theil is a downstate Assemblyman that also needs special attention by the gun owning voters of his district in that he also voted for the Safe Act. And yes, he very well may be a "grandstander" for exactly the same reasons as Andy. Hopefully he too is feeling the heat. Each one of us has our own district election candidates to take care of depending on how they voted on the Safe Act. But staying on point, this thread is about deceitful activity by Cuomo as pointed out in the original post, and I am trying to stay focused on that in spite of your attempts to divert.
  24. Of course I did. But the more important question is, "Do you intend to back up your actions at he polls this November"? The way you are trying to deflect attention away from the real problem and the real solutions here makes me wonder. I am not going to sit back and say, "Gee I did all I could do". We have a much bigger achievement to accomplish. We don't need apologists for political grandstanding, and attempts to buy back the lost favor of voting gun owners with public money. The fact is that unlike you, I can not brush aside the callous and insulting treatment that legislators routinely force on us, and the attitudes of contempt that they hold their constituents in. I am arguing for fanning the flames of disgust into an organized attempt to send a clear message to those that displayed their true colors on that Safe Act vote including their leader, Cuomo. We have an opportunity to use the anger in the gun owners to send that message, and if we don't get too many people trying to deflect that effort by brushing aside such things as grandstanding for political benefit and other abuses by politicians, perhaps we might just have a chance at pulling off the upset. What we don't need are statements like "I really don't care if he is grandstanding". That is not the way to encourage the unified front that we need to unseat this guy and his like-minded friends.
  25. I think that some here need to have an honest discussion with Canadians about the quality of their national healthcare. I have a brother-in-law in Canada that supplies plenty of examples of where national healthcare leads. Bottle-necks that are created by this unlimited unrestricted healthcare with everybody clogging their system with hang-nails and sniffles, causes some very lengthy waits for diagnostic testing procedures for very real symptoms.
