Supermodifieds are for racers who's balls are to big to fit in a stock car. You want to see what 468 big block open wheel racing every saturday night is about? Head to Oswego Speedway!
-
I hold season passes for as long as I can remember to our local track where real racecars called supermodifieds race. Im a pretty big race fan and I will be the first one to say NAPcar absolutely sucks, has sucked since the stupid race for the chase started and they took the racers passion out of racing. I remember when there was a 5 year waiting list to get a seat at Bristol, hell its had empty seats for the past 5 years now. Been to many Nascar races over the years and no more. The super speedway races like Daytona are the worst of them all. Lets ride and fight for getting to the back to avoid the big one and last 6 laps hammer down. When fuel mileage is the biggest factor in who wins and who loses its not racing any more.

Not where Im at. 4 feet of snowpack in the woods, there is a couple days of warm weather this week but what the thermometer says and what the real feel in the woods is wont do me any good yet. It will take a nice warmup to thaw out the trees before it will start to drip. Going to be a very short year.

Dinsdale I went 13 weeks on the CV1 and the CV2 last year. When I pulled taps the holes looked fresh still. Lawdaz it varies widely but I would say on average $1 dollar a tap. So many variables, sugarmaples or soft maples, sugar content they produce, accesability, can tubing be run etc etc the list goes on and on.
-
Naww it takes more than a couple days of warm weather to thaw the trees out. Especially with such short days. Unless your on high vac, and can catch a good early thaw of more than just a couple days it is not worth it. Especially if your on buckets, it will shorten your season when the right time for bucket tapping happens. Even gravity tubing setups its a tad iffy unless you run check valves to keep the bacteria out of the tap holes.

I just purchased a stainless steel bulk tank from them a month ago. When you say in the middle of no where thats not a joke. Great people. Doc I sell about 20%retail and bulk the restt in 30 gallon stainless steel barrels and wholesale it. I run 300 buckets to keep some traditions alive and the rest is on high vacume system. The tubing does not seem to effect deer much at all. Most areas its high enough they can walk under and some areas it creates a nice setup for deer hunting like a fence crossing would.

Heres a picture of my sugarhouse and second picture is the new 3x8 foot flue pan I built ,it also has 3 syrup pans that connect to it for a total of 12 feet. It will boil off at the least 120 gallons an hour of sap.
-
I am a syrup producer. Tap around 1200 trees and growing every year, I plan to be tapped out at 5000. Boil on a 3'x12" and a 2'x6' foot evaporator. I also am a tig welder and fabricator for a local stainless steel metal shop who specializes in maple syrup equipment. Its a big part of my life and a good chunk of my income between making syrup and the equipment. Produced 300 gallons last year and keep upping the numbers annually. I am normally tapped in around first of January to catch the January thaw but weather pattern and the deep freeze has me playing the waiting game. I expect a fast and short season.

Im going to BE SERIOUS like the title of the thread and per requested by Grow. Its NOT a mountain lion.

anyone joining in on this? The Shot Heard Around New York State “Embattled” farmers met at Concord Bridge to confront British regulars who had marched from Boston in the dark of night, in order to seize their firearms. There, they fired “The Shot Heard Round the World”. Patriots in Concord, New York will fire a symbolic shot at twelve noon, January 11th, 2014, to protest the 1st anniversary of the NYS “Safe Act” passed in the dark of night. This will be followed by other patriots throughout New York State firing their symbolic shots. All patriots will fire in a legal, safe manner. The Springville Field and Stream Club, Springville, New York is asking all sportsman’s clubs in the state to spread the word about The Shot Heard throughout New York State. This is the club’s first project related to the repeal of the NY SAFE Act. We are asking that sportsman’s clubs e-mail the Springville Field and Stream Club with what they are doing to support this 2nd Amendment issue. The club is asking you to LIKE this event page to show your support and go to www.facebook.com/SpringvilleFieldAndStreamInc/events for more information. Remember to fire your shot in a legal and safe manner.

Last time I went drinking with friends I woke up with a new boat in the driveway the next morning. I still scratch my head how that happened but I sure missed my boats so I will be on the water as soon as possible this spring again.

I skid all my firewood off my land to heat the house. It is not uncommon and actually expected at this point to have deer following the skidder in and out of the woods. This summer I had 1 doe in particular that I swear she would here the skidder start up and wait to follow me around. I tend to leave the tops through the winter and harvest those in the late spring just for the wildlife during the winter. The moisture in those tops will keep enough green in the tips for them to browse on and add some cover for a lot of wildlife.

How many are aware of this law?

Obviously you havent read or understood a thing I have said. And since you yourself has said you had to get clarification from the DEC must mean you need to go back to school. And its not a discussion about who can understand regs. Its about a particular regulation that has been asked about. And if many people cant understand it, which has been noted already is it not the way its written? Lets face it some are not as overwhelmingly as brilliant as you think you are, would not it be more clear for all if it was worded in plain English? I think so and Im sure there are many others that would agree. Do you ever have any post that add some kind of contribution other than bashing on here? Enough you do it on every thread. Its old man, old. -

Correct and that is what I been saying is the gray area. Been told on here that I cant just read the first sentence, and I will retaliate by saying they cant leave out the middle and read the first and last sentence. It is not written clearly at all. It does not clearly say you can in rifle country. It does not say You may hunt furbearers with a rifle chambered in any cartridge, except that during any open season for deer - including archery, muzzleloading and regular seasons UNLESS YOUR IN RIFLE COUNTRY. It also does not say You may hunt furbearers with a rifle chambered in any cartridge, except where deer hunting with rifles is prohibited It clearly states You may hunt furbearers with a rifle chambered in any cartridge, except that during any open season for deer - including archery, muzzleloading and regular seasons. Would this even be a discussion if it was worded in plain English. I think not. Its worded this way on purpose just like oh so many laws across this state. I think the biggest problem is the fools writing the laws probably dont even have a clue what a furbearer or a rifle even is. -

It obviously is confusing to some, Hence the reason the OP started the thread and even said this. "I have had a bunch of hunters inquire so I went back and read it and can understand the confusion". I wonder how many emails and letters the DEC receives asking for clarification on there Regs? Even Shawn states he has never had a problem getting it in clear English from the DEC. So why not make them clear from the beginning? They want that gray area just like any damn law in this state. -

Yeah and Obama told me If I wanted to keep my health insurance I could keep my health insurance. LMAO My point is anyone can say anything but that doesnt mean its right or wrong. Although I should of made it more clear when I stated the confusion part. I know what the regs are as I asked the local DEC officer this question a while back. What I was trying to get at is the way they write things is confusing, and I would say deliberately so on there behalf to paint that gray line and left up to the DEC officer to decide. See the thing is that one sentence I pointed out specifically says during any open deer season. Does it not by the way its written trump all the other mumbo jumbo? I believe so and when I questioned that the response the answer was "Oh the Gray line factor". I personally think it and many other regulations in the way they are written leaves a lot for the Officer at the time of the questioning some ground for personal interpretation. No judge can possibly know all the laws and its left up to you or a lawyer to persuade him in your direction after the ticket has been issued. -

I tend to agree, however that is not what it says. You may hunt furbearers with a rifle chambered in any cartridge, except that during any open season for deer - including archery, muzzleloading and regular seasons. This statement alone never mentions rifle country or not. It just says you cant hunt a furbearer with rifle during any open deer season. -

Maybe they were alien DEC officers releasing Mountain Lions into your area. That would make sense after all. -

wdswtr replied to nyantler's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Now this is what is really confusing to me. You may hunt furbearers with a rifle chambered in any cartridge, except that during any open season for deer - including archery, muzzleloading and regular seasons Which leads to tell me you cant hunt any furbearer during gun season with a rifle but any other legal implement is acceptable. But yet the season date starts Oct 1. So its okay to take a shotgun coyote hunting during bow season but not a rifle even if you are in rifle country? How much sense does that make? -

you may not possess a rifle larger than .22 caliber rimfire afield, during the day or night, to hunt wildlife, including furbearers in any county or portion of a county where deer hunting with rifles is prohibited during the regular deer season. Centerfire rifles smaller than .22 caliber are permitted. The verbage is really confusing to follow. Its saying that if you hunt an area where Rifles are prohibited for regular deer season than you can not use a caliber larger than a rimfire 22. but also can use a centerfire rifle smaller than a .22. It does not say you can use any caliber after the deer season is closed where rifle hunting big game is prohibited. If that was the case and you could use anything larger than a 22 in those shotgun only areas than why the hell would it be a shotgun only area to begin with. It wouldnt. -

Dang WNY you just ruined xmas for all the UFO, Sasquatch and Mountain lion dreamers all in one post. Honestly the Sasquatch must be real, after all spell check demands the S to be capitalized, if that isnt enough proof then I dont know what would be.
