Dont want to be a negative guy but I have too. With this extreme heat and lack of rain puts a huge stress on these stream trout. There chance of survival after fighting with low oxygen levels and high water temps will more than likely kill them in short order. Its being advised and I highly condone this advice is to leave these small fisheries alone till water temps drop and we get adequate rain to help already stressed fish. There are a lot of flyfisherman including myself who have stayed off the streams for a couple months now that are not happy but its the right thing to do for the future of good fishing.

I told her think golfing, theres a rod for every fish and water type like there is a club for every golf shot. I have flyrods from weight 0 up to 12. That 0 is a blast on little brookies in small streams but not easy to cast. 5 weight is the most versatile as they get. Cheap rods and cheap line will lead to frustration if you find yourself next to a seasoned flyfisherman or try going from casting a high end rod then back to a cheapo. Some good choices between middle of the road to high end, Sage, Temple Fork ( cant speak highly enough of the value behind these two rod brands), Thompson and Thompson, Albright, G Loomis etc. The couple Orvis rods I have I do not like, more money than they are worth compared to say the Sage. I personally like Double Taper lines better than traditional weight forward. They also last twice as long as you can reverse the line on the reel when one end is at the end of its life. Temple Fork Outfitters Rods, you will be hard pressed to find a better warranty and company to deal with. Prices are a great for what you get. I bought a new Temple fork 3 weight for a a trip for some rainbows, I did the ultimate no no ever, slammed the tip in the truck door a few days before I was leaving for the trip. Called TF in Texas and shipped the rod over night. I expected it would take some time to match up a new Tip section and was a little bummed, however the guy on the phone said give me the name and address of the place your staying and we will overnight it back to that address. When I checked in the Hotel the receptionist handed me a package with my Rod in it. Never got charged for return shipping or the repair. I have to send a Sage 5 weight back to get repaired after stripping streamers on the boat for night walleyes, guess that last one was a bit much for that weight rod lol. sage warranty is a bit different than Temple Fork though. Its all about the serial number stamped on the rod. Happy flyfishing, like in the movie The River Runs Through it your gonna look at the guys with the coffee cans of worms and get a chuckle.

There are such areas in NY like this. Drive up route 3 along Lake Ontario, there is state land where they also stock pheasants and manage for ruffed grouse and other wildlife that has plenty of field acreage that is being farmed. Last time I talked to one of the farmers they are required to leave x amount of certain crops. Pretty nice deal for farmers and hunters alike.

Well the Bayliner is a cheap way to enter but it will cost in the end lol. I had a 24' Bayliner Trophy in the late 80's, first time I ever knew you could twist a fiberglass boat and it stay that way lol. Never owned a Chaparral personally been been in them. Not a fish and SKi guy anyhow. Have owned Bayliner, Glastron, Ranger, Tracker, yep I said Tracker lol Skeeter and by far the Ranger is superior for a fishing machine. My buddy bought a Warrior when I had the Ranger and man that was the sweetest rig I ever been on. He is now in the new 21 Skeeter. We not talking Basshole boats here lol, Pro walleye series boats. Out of all the boats I will say that Tracker was the least expensive boat to maintain and cheapest to run with that aluminum hull. That bayliner man still makes me cringe the amount of money to keep it floating.

You are the first person I ever heard make that statement before. Most people on the boating forums will state the opposite. Glastron is absolutely not a lower end boat, Bayliner's are a lower end boat. I havent seen to many 50 year old Chaparral's still actively hitting the lakes.

Never name a new boat the first year owning it, first fish of the day gets released regardless, one thats pretty popular is kiss the fish, pour a touch of rum in the water to get the fish god to share his fish, redheads on a boat are bad luck, females on a boat are bad luck ( this one is actually true for me, the few times the misses has gone on the boat with me we never catch anything), no loose change in your pocket, always rinse your net off after netting a fish. I had a bad experience with a family members pit and my yellow lab years ago. The pit was just as calm and friendly as all get out, both my lab and that pit played together for years just fine and then one day it just snapped and latched onto the throat of my lab and tore it apart in just seconds. And on the other side I have a friend who had a black lab that was getting older and was raised along side of his two very young boys at the time, very lazy dog calm and lovable. If I recall this dog was 11 years old and they had owned it since a pup. Same deal it just snapped one day and ripped into the youngest boys neck, he was in the hospital for months and the doctors said his chance of survival was very low. That boy made it through and is a great young man. One does have to wonder why the Pit is banned in so many places through out the US though. A dog breeder once told me there tendency to lose it is more prone than any other breed. Some interesting stats for you. There are over 32000 deaths from vehicles annually in the US and about 33000 deaths annually caused from firearms in the US. Of those 33000 60% of them are suicides. Would those 19800 people commit suicide in another fashion? But think about this, In the US you can get a drivers license from the age of 14 to 17 depending on the state you live. In the US you can legally purchase a long gun at age 18 and a hand gun at age 21 of course all dependent on the Gov. I think it would be fair to say that gun deaths would be around 13200 if you discount suicides who feel the need to end there life, which are going to end it with or without the gun. 32000 vs 13200. I would agree with you on this, the Gov has discounted all deaths unrelated to a firearm for the sole purpose that it indeed Obama feels guns are a threat to his "government oppression and his wanton tyranny". If his concern lies directly with human life he would be much better off addressing suicides and vehicle related deaths and try to save 45200 people a year in the US than 13200. The US population is over 318 million excuse my math but if Im wrong but .0001% of the population is killed with a firearm annually.
