  1. entered the catfish derby this year, was on the board for a while had a youth on board who was on the board till the end and got bumped we stayed awake, with lines in the water for 24 hrs straight, that was rough my buddy thought he had the winner, until it came up 25# carp this was my best of the night someone forgot the cooking utensils
  2. not the best pics but this will give you an idea this one was screwed to the wall of my fur shed, this decoy is 20 years old this is where I found best location for hinges and they fold up nice for transport the half moon cut on the head is for antlers, fill the skull cap with hot glue, to keep from moveing these have 2" of 1/2" conduit screwed to the legs, cut two 2' pieces of rerod, for stakes, use a real tail for extra appeal....
  3. it sucks, my uncles lost power he lost a pig and 20 chickens I have an extension cord, with a light in it, I can give a quick check just by walking by, no more chances
  4. when I get home, I'll dig them out and post pics had my wife free hand them, she is a pretty good artist, when I was a kid, I had to be creative, I also had some awesome plywood crow decoys, killed hundreds of crows over them
  5. I still have 2 I made when I was a kid, they actually worked well I used 1/8" luan, cut in the middle of body and at base of neck, they fold and carry easy and you can set them up with a bend in the middle, gives a 3D affect make a half moon cut in head and slide antlers in, put a little hot glue in the skull cap to keep them from moving around if you were close I would give you one of mine
  6. all carbon now however I loved my 2512s for indoor league, good old line breakers... LOL
  7. I have been smoking an electronic cig for a year, hopefully i'll be done with it soon evan when I smoked a pack a day, I never smoked around my kids, never in my home or car my kids still think it's illegale to smoke inside.... but who the HELL cares if someone smokes, you can't do it in public anyway so if someone smokes so be it a lot of you drink, what about your liver, I promise you WILL die some day smoker or not
  8. one problem might be 5:30, birds have been gobbling from 5 to 5:30 and then done the rest of the day, you might be a little to late I have 1 big bird gobbles 2 or 3 times @ 5:15 and then he's done the rest of the day....pisses me right off...if I'm not there by 4:30, I have to go to a different farm, I have to walk across a field to get to him, and it's to light out any later than that
  9. that's NOT how it works Belo going to run out and buy a rifle....hates Crossbows
  10. I wanted to do it for years and never have, I'm all in this year can't wait Probably launch the boat saturday afternoon and fish all night, love catching big cats
  11. Predate, the catfish derby is ON, just got my applications
  12. I have a love hate relationship with the susqy, I love the fishing, always break something on my boat boat is ready to go, just can't put the turkey gun down, they have been really getting into them on the south end of cayuga
  13. Wooly, You are amazing with a camera, awesome
  14. LMAO!!!!! you made me spill my beer
  15. "The Official Turkey slayer JOE" congrats young man, you had a great season
  16. I would shoot it in a heartbeat, odds are if it has a beard the hormones are screwed up probably never lay an egg I would have a full body mount done add it to the game room
  17. I would enter him, add a nice gobbler to that and you might be suprised, and congrats, nice bird
  18. I was there, and it was bad, 1st time I left with empty hands what sucks, it's not just ammo, people are hoarding guns also, more new guns there than I have ever seen the used gun market is just as bad as the ammo market, I seen used guns selling for more than they are new, go figure the only ammo, that was still a good price, was 17hmr,
  19. I always did as a kid, then I learned a couple things 1. they talk @night less than 10% of the time 2. it gets dark late this time off year, which means you get home late, and risk over sleeping however if you really want to give it a go, my favorites red or grey fox bark, is killer, pilleated woodpecker is good I don't use a coyote howler, it will work, however I don't like to alarm them to much
  20. you are a strange fellow Belo smoking Pot is O.K, but a crossbow is a SIN
  21. it really depends, opening day, I know where a big bird roosts, and where he flyes down into a feild, in order to set up without being seen, I need to be there by 4:30and setup by 5:00 and hope for no moon if I'm hunting big woods, I can get there 30 min before sunrise, wait until they start talking, and setup the nice thing about big o'l gobblers they normally roost in the same spot
  22. the DSD buck decoy is the awesome.... I haven't put my hands on there turkey decoy yet, however I have owned 40 or 50 decoys and out them the zinc is the best colored I own, I'm just not a fan of the weight, makes it hard to run and gun, I use them when in open fields, I still keep a couple cheap Flambeau in my vest for hunting the mountain
  23. the best looking decoys on the market..... only problem is they weigh a ton,
