i shoot out to 40 i can hit the kill zone on a deer target at 80 but would i shoot at a deer that far i would never even try it!!! in 35 years of bow hunting i can count on one hand how many time i have taken a 40 yard shot. i am 4 for 4 at 40 yards.

Gold tip pro-hunters work for me. went to a drop a- way rest and have gone to 4 flechings with a 3* right hand helix. put 5 out of 5 in the X ring

I have to admit I have limited experience with a cross-bow. I have only shot one once and found it to be heavy and cumbersome and noisy. To me it is more of a novelty. I’m not going to put 500 to 800 dollars down on one. The only advantage I can see is that it may be a more stable platform then a bow.

I just watched Battle Los Angles and it looks like one of the aliens only in miniature I think they are trying to seek in under the radar. LOL

check page 55 of the 5 year plan dec is in favor of a reduction or Removal of the dmp fee

I would just take a look at page 50 of the 5 year plan that will tell you where the cross-bow issue is heading.

Steve, Hunter is the type of guy I’m talking about he comes out with a personal attack. When all I suggested that it may be better to read the whole report. I didn’t even take a side on the issue. This is the same thing that going on, on the DEC thread there are guy calling each other names because they don’t like what guy writes about the 5year plan maybe Hunter should read that we going to have to live with that plan for the next 5 years and most of those guys won’t even comment to the DEC on the plan. As for not typing much I have been waiting for the 5 year plan and I’m in the process of sending my comment to the DEC.

maybe you should read from pages 30 - 46 instead of picking out the parts that just fit your point of view no matter what side of the issue your on

i use a 444 marlin it works for me. I do have a 35Rem in a remington xp-100 hand gun I kill a deer with it the first year I had it 1 shot between the eyes at 40 yd's good thing it was a doe and not a big buck. The shot removed the whole top of the head.

i do not see a time or date stamp on the pic. i have 2 2005 cam and they still stamp the time and day on the pics

As for the 4 day early ML season you can thank the NYB for that they made a deal with the muzzle loader association something to the fact they would not oppose a early ML season for a 10/1 start to the bow season. That was a year or two ago.

Hey don’t forget the youth gun hunt on the 2nd weekend and the 4day ML season the 4 days after the youth hunt

nyantler I'm with you I think food plots are a legal way to bait its not Habitat improvement. The only difference between food plots and baiting is that it cost more to plant a food plot then buying 100lb of corn and its legal

Is this baiting if you plant an acre of corn for a food plot? Then in October cut it down and leave it in the field cobs and all. If it’s not baiting then why not and if it is baiting then why.

That’s only because the crossbows can only be used in the gun and ml bow season. I would wait till the end of this month or the first part of next when the DEC’s 5 year deer management comes out. Then we will find out when cross- bows will be in the archery season. If I were going to bet on when that’s going to happen I would bet the first year after the 5 year plan ends. But it could happen after the 2 year trial.
