  1. This is tech at its finest.reporting real time from our fav place , the woods. Except where I hunt getting a signal is more elusive than getting a huge mature buck. I will try though
  2. Yeah meat eater has a show on sportsman channel or pursuit channel...good show
  3. People also like to eat thinly sliced dry aged beef raw. You ever see that guy Andrew zimmern ?
  4. Its called steak tar tar. My dad always eats chop meat raw when he's making meatballs. Not me though
  5. Small game: Ruger 10/22 Deer and Bear : Marlin 336 .35rem., Win.M70 featherweight .30-06 and .308, Ruger .44mag Deerfield carbine, 12 ga. 870 rem. pump rifled barrel Bow: PSE bow madness xs
  6. I've popped my blind up only 2 days before hunting in it (It was aired out and new smell was gone of course) and had deer and turkey around it immediately. I have several doghouse type blinds that I use and I'm always setting them up in new spots during the season. Like others said you just need to brush them in good and spray some scent killer on them and they can be very effective. Just dont plop them in the middle of a field in the open and expect the deer not to notice it......but dont be afraid to move it either. Just be smart about it. I love blind hunting and you will enjoy it too ! Good luck out there.
  7. I have a marlin 336 in .35 rem I had a Bushnell trophy 3-9x scope that I put on it after the pawn shop sold my Simmons fixed 4x i had.(with out my permission btw !) It doesnt need a variable scope but it works very well with it. I use the Hornady Leverevolution rounds with it, taken 4 bucks and a 250 lb. bear with it. Bear only ran 30 yards Frontal shot broke the shoulder and left a nice hole on exiting just behind the front leg. I wouldn't trade my Marlin for anything. I'd rather have the.35 over the .30-30 anyday. Great brush/woods gun.
  8. Where in Nassau ? I'm from East Meadow, my dad told me stories when he was a kid and East Meadow was potato farms.
  9. I know a guy who uses his atv similarly.
  10. Just wanted to wish everyone on here a safe and happy holiday season. I'll be radio silent for a while so everyone enjoy and don't eat too much !!!
  11. I've never seen it done that fast but one thing that I noticed from living in the south now a lot of hunters down here do not field dress their deer and do it when butchering. Obviously this is done immediately after killing the deer but it seems to be the way a lot of southern hunters do it.
  12. When I was in grade school in the 80's my teachers knew my dad was a deer hunter and they expected to get fresh venison if my dad got something. It's really sad how things have changed in this country. The attempt to be "politically correct" has made common sense a thing of the past. Unfortunately it's only going to get worse with this so called president and his liberal/socialist buddies who rule the roost right now.
  13. ADLs are good but I like the BDL's more. I have a BDL in .308 shoots and looks great. Not sure why they stopped making the BDL's in .308 though.
  14. 4r pretty quiet as far as bucks killed. There were a few taken. My father and I both had a chance to take 2 nice bucks in the same spot back to back days which has never happened before since we've been hunting this area for 50 + years. We've seen plenty of bucks at night, one really big 10 ptr.and numerous smaller bucks most of which were legal bucks to shoot. Seen so many rubs some scrapes. I was actually impressed with the amount of bucks around my area this year. As of now most of them were not taken. Now I am not saying this is a result of the AR's because it has not been long enough to see results already. I am pleased at the number of bucks though. For some reason where I hunt we have seen almost no does during the day only at night. Most deer we see during the day have been bucks. It used to be most of the deer we would see during the day were does.
  15. I wish it would be like tomorrow and Wed. on opening day !
  16. wow that's pretty warm there in 4y. Where I hunt in 4r will be a little colder because of elevation I guess.
  17. I'm tired of watching every other hunting show where they paint their face like some moron.
  18. How long has there been an AR where you hunt? I seriously doubt that it's been long enough to have that much of an influence on how many big bucks are in your area. Think about how many bucks have been left to rot in the woods because instead of paying a fine for an illegal buck they just leave them.
  19. I think the idea of a scout scope is useless. The whole idea with a scout scope is for fast target acquisition while keeping both eyes open, I would rather use a red dot or reflex type sight for that. I've seen some Marlin 336's with holographic sights on them and for a handy brush gun shooting 100 yds and less I would think that's a good set up.
  20. well said sir. Don't make apologies for following the law and being respectful to your neighbors especially to some on this forum.
  21. wow nice mass. Good Job
