  1. Yeah you also should get the siding pattern camo !
  2. hot choc. if it's cold. always have water and gatorade/powerade also. Instead of building ground blinds buy a pop up blind. The one I use is an ameristep dog house blind. It cost around 40 -50 dollars and worth every penny. In 4 years I've gotten 2 bucks and a bear out of it. I've also had turkey so close I could spit on them. They set up fast and are easy to carry around.
  3. instead of ripping apart someone else's hunting methods and calling them non hunters I think hunters should respect one another. As long as it's legal I welcome all the new products that will/won't make me more successful. Unfortunately there will always be some hunters who think they are superior or if it isn't done the way they do it you're not a "real" hunter. That's what the anti hunters prey upon.
  4. I might be interested. Please send me some credentials that lets me know this is for real. Thank you
  5. yeah I think it was more like acorn crush than real acorns. I could see the stuff stuck to the bucks nose.
  6. I'm sorry but I totally disagree with you. I personally don't have the time or money to put in food plots but if I did I would. Since when is using every advantage that's legal a bad thing? Just because people who don't hunt to your exacting standards does not make them bad hunters. I think hunters should respect other hunters methods (if legal) and stop bad mouthing them. Using trail cameras is a great way to scout if you don't have the time or means to do it.
  7. So nut mast looks good this year ? I talked to one of the guys who lives next to the property I hunt and he said the Apple trees on our land are over loaded and the deer are absolutely nailing them. I would think if the nut mast is also abundant that could make it a little more difficult to pick a good food source to hunt this season.
  8. I've been checking field and stream's rut report. They are saying that right now in the North East the bucks are moving and rubs are being made regularly. Very little fighting, no chasing, and some scrapes are also being made. Does not yet in estrus.
  9. surprised we haven't heard from our few liberal members on here yet telling how Obama and Dems are for the 2nd amendment and this is a Republican agenda. This country is going down the tubes quick. One good thing about living in NC is I got my conceal carry permit in no time. No waiting list just a quick backround check and I was set ! NY is one of the few states who do not reciprocate with NC or I would bring my hand guns when I head up to NY for hunting. NY the crumbling Empire State
  10. I don't know borrowing a gun isn't such a sacred thing as some might think. Although I do agree that I would have to learn a lot more about said hunter before I put a rifle in his/her hands and turn them lose. I think your best bet would be to hook up with someone asap. Then let them get to know you, maybe go to the range with them see how safe you are with a weapon. I think you have the right idea in wanting to help around the property and such. Can't hurt to keep asking. Good luck I hope it works out for you.
  11. once you've gotten them put on a good coat of clear nail polish over where it itches. It will kill them off.
  12. I agree. The smell will go away. I would spray it with more scent away or whatever product you like once the paint smell is gone. You might try rubbing some fresh pine needles on it also.
  13. this sounds familiar to me. Not sure but I think someone posted a story pretty similar to this one last year ?
  14. I'll I can say is ummmmmm..... huh ?
  15. unfortunately for me since I live in NC I won't be able to hunt in NY until Opening day of rifle in Nov. but I'll be up there for over 2 weeks this year so I'm looking forward to that. I've already been out with the bow here in NC since the season opened Sept. 12th here. I want to wish all you bow hunters up in NY a Safe and fruitful season this year. I hope you guys get a big one ! GL
  16. It's wolves. The same thing is happening to the elk numbers in Montana. The wolves are out of control from what I hear. That's what happens when a predator species is protected for so long. They are starting to open up wolf hunts. In many places.

    snake

that's an eastern garter snake. Non poisonous but they bite and they spray musk that stinks if you handle them.
  18. I've always used Sorels for my pac boots and Rocky's for everything else. Never had a problem with either.
  19. why is the date in Nov. 2013 ? Is this one of those crystal ball trail cams?
  20. I have to go with shooting before / after legal hours, with baiting second. I know someone who got a baiting fine because he had thrown stale bread out for the birds. Now that is B.S.
  21. seriously. I see the tail so I wanna say mountain lion but I also see what someone else pointed out about the front leg and how it's jointed. Maybe a horse?
  22. and I agree with the Jake brakes (exhaust brake) on trucks. They can get annoying. One time I was up in my stand for a few hours and I was way up the mountain in the middle of nowhere and some guy came plugging along blowing a freakin whistle. I have no idea who he was or where he came from but it was pretty weird.
