when I first moved down here near charlotte and got my first hunting license I couldn't believe how many deer I was able to get. The south definitely view deer as more of a nuisance than anything else. The deer are so small here but there is loads of them. Also with all of the housing developments going up here the deer are quickly running out of places to go. Literally around the corner from me are deer that just live in between the houses. People feed them like most people feed birds and squirrels. My buddy got a nuisance permit for a local soybean farm down the road and it's basocally kill as many deer as you can. I think he's allowed to take up to 60 deer (buck or doe). The coyotes are becoming more numerous here too.

actually aiming for the heart no matter what bow you shoot is the correct thing. Just because even with a fast bow the deer can and will drop especially if you're shooting at a keyed up alert deer. Aiming at the lower third of the deer will still give you good shot placement if the deer drops still hitting the lungs and if the deer doesn't drop you'll hit the heart. I just watched a show about this last night on outdoor channel. As for the OP I think calming yourself and talking yourself through the shot like many have stated is a good habit to get into. I would just add one thing to that. Breathe ! Take some steadying breaths it helps.

I wish they would've posted the CO's pic of the deer

Not sure what deer getting wounded this fall has anything to do with this post or what you are getting at. Stealing is an act of D' Baggery not making a fatal shot on a deer with archery tackle is part of hunting and not intentional. So I don't see your point.

I agree with meat manager. If you are confident he's hit that hard and from what you said here I would have to agree I would work out from your last blood/hair spot in expanding circles. You'll find him.

I don't want to do it. Never crossed my mind to do it. Not a hater just know what's ethical and what's not. You obviously have issues with that so that's on you. Shoot them anyway you want I could care less.
-
Yeah we love head shots because leaving animals to die by starvation from a blown off jaw bone is so ethical.

I've seen check points on RT 28 between Shandaken and Phonecia many years. They're usually only there for a few days after opening day though. I used to see them at the Kingston exit/entrance on the thruway also. Rt 28 is a guantlet of State Troopers anyway with or without deer checkpoints. IMO most Troopers are Delta Bravos regularly. It's sort of a job requirement I guess. ECO's tend to be more affable but some of them can be DB's also.

wow thats a really nice buck. Good job sir !

with all the liberal communist politicians you have in NY it wouldn't surprise me one bit if that happened.
