  1. 4P came to life yesterday. I saw 2 bucks cruising in the am. The afternoon I laid some scent out and had a 6 point come running right in within 15 minutes. My first crossbow kill. On my way out another 6 pt crossed my path and he paid no attention to me. From seeing 4 deer all bow season to 4 bucks in one day!
  2. I'm not far behind you! I've seen 4 deer in about 65 hours of hunting. Hoping this will change.
  3. I fill out the DEC Bowhunters log sheet. I didn't kill myself in October. As of now i have hunted 63.5 hours and I have next week off.
  4. Corn fields, Apple orchards, Blackberry patches.
  5. Received my Lifetime License yesterday and applied for DMP this morning on-line with no issues.
  6. Hinge them whenever you get the time. Learn to use Knots to your advantage when hinging more difficult trees like Maple.
  7. I hunted in the rain with a trigger stick. The next day it wouldn't support any weight and kept sliding down. The tube got water in it and it would leave a smear of ice on the stick when extended. Primos sent me a new one but it only comes out on sunny days.
  8. I planted 6 apple trees behind the house on Wednesday with about 3 or 4 inches of snow in that area. Today the kid is out there throwing her disc and shot put. Sure enough the disc lands about 3 feet from a 3 point shed. 47 years old and I have yet to find a shed!
  9. I picked up a few cans and other garbage along the snowmobile trail yesterday.
  10. I hinge cut them back in January. The deer fed on them pretty good until the deep snow pushed them off the hill. I plan on doing more hinge cutting when the snow melts down. A good 18" to 24" of snow up there right now. I received 6 apple trees on 4/4 and no where to plant them yet. Snow and frozen ground.
  11. Burned 8 cords, and have 5 to go. No problem.
  12. There are several wind turbines just east of Cleveland, Ohio in a commercial section of the city. They look like they belong there. They don't all need to be out in the country.
  13. I have an outdoor boiler. I have a tri axle load delivered for $650, cut split and stack myself, about 8 cords. I also harvest about 4 Cords around the house. Some years I have some left over, last year I burned it all. I have not bought fuel oil since 2008. So I heat a 1750 sq. foot home plus full basement and hot water for less than $1000 a year.
  14. If you have a branch above, tie the top hub up.
  15. I had 8 degrees this morning. I saw a spike and a 5 or 6 pointer chasing a doe around. Cold but no wind!
  16. 4P I've seen alot of bucks the last 4 days I hunted. None of them were following does. I think I have only found 15 rubs and 1 scrape so far. The bucks would stop to me grunting, bleating and I even tried a snort wheeze, but none made any progress in my direction. Good luck to all!
  17. The young bucks are cruisin'. More rubs poppin up daily, I have only found 2 scrapes so far. Almost had a shot at an eight on Saturday. He responded to a grunt but couldn't get him in close enough. I saw 3 bucks that morning, no does. I'm just on the other side of the village from you towards Delhi.
  18. First few weeks were slow for me. The last 2 weeks I've seen a lot of 1 1/2 year old bucks. The best is yet to come!
  19. Saw 3 bucks this morning all by themselves.
  20. I've gotten alot of Bobcat pictures in the last 2 years in 4P.
  21. Just to let you all know, I went with my name and full address on my posted signs. I ordered them with Voss signs and I had them within a week. A very pleasant company to deal with and a quality sign that should last for years. Thanks for all the input!
