NJ is getting to be a big bear mecca! 700lbs on 12/8/14

Theres a lot of state and federal land to hunt on in NJ. Check out bingmaps. Most of the land is in the northern part of the state. You can hunt for bear or shoot a buck. The state record is 829 lbs. -
The other day i had some guy trespassing so i went to see who it was. I asked him to leave and he went ballistic, said hes been hunting there for years. Made all kinds of threats. Kinda takes the fun outta hunting.

Go to Tractor supply or Gander Mountain during deer season and watch how many bags of corn or other bait leave the stores.

The spots i want to plant arent that big and i did want to use it to make a decent sized garden. Ive been looking around here for implements and i think the scrappers beat me to everything or no one is selling.

Its all farm land. It was overgrown with goldenrod when i bought the place. I brush hogged it and the grass came back. The soil is great not too many rocks. It must have some clay in it because even in a drought the grass grows and stays green.I wanted to plant turnips and radish this year.

I have a 30 hp tractor and was wondering which would work better for food plots, a disc or 6 ft rototiller. Most of the spots i want to plant are narrow (30 x 100 ft.

I spent most of my winter cutting fence rows back. The deer loved all the tops i stacked. Hopefully it helped them out.

I was looking at power plant, it had a bunch of stuff mixed in it. I put in turnips the one year and they didnt touch them till the snow came and they tore them up. -
The buck kill around my area has been bad. No one has been seeing them in the woods or on cams. I think there getting poached. I heard a lot of gun shots during bow season. See what happens with the muzzleloader.

Id like to see the seasons open at the same time. No more northern and southern zone dates. This year bowhunting i heard alot of rifle shots . I was wondering if guys were shooting deer with rifles and tagging them as northern zone kills. Make the first week of gun buck only and have a couple doe days. On antler size dont really care. The jackers usually get most of the big ones in my area.

Make the season buck only and maybe one day for doe. The deer population is down.

They have some giant bears. Last year i think one of the biggest was 770 lbs. Theres a huge chunk of federal land right off of rt 80 you can hunt and theres a lot of bears on it. You can deer hunt also. I think the bear tag is $2.00 North Jersey has a ton of state land you can hunt also. Alot of guys use a plastic ice fishing sled if they get one.
