  1. When you say you use 2 pellets , are they 50 grain pellets ? I have only used 777 loose powder and have had good luck using 90 grains to push a 240 grain sabot . I like the loose powder as you can ecperiment more with it that the 30 and 50 grain pellets .
  2. I take a surgical glove , cut off the fingers and then slip them one at a time over a finger . Then I roll the cutoff up and slip it over the end of my ML . I have killed deer without ever removing the rubber before shooting . It seems as though this was brought up a couple years ago . Someone had mentioned buying a pack of balloons at the dollar store and using them . I had removed the front bead from my ML , put the screws back in and covered the screw heads with wax .
  3. I still haven't made it to the store since it changed hands . Is it much different ?
  4. This ridiculous thread is dying too slow of a death !
  5. There are a lot of excellent blinds on the market . Most of them have a footprint of 59"X59" . I used an Ameristep G-30 hub blind during gun season . Since the front was facing downhill a bit it was okay . If it had been on flat ground , the windows at the hubs would have been too high . The height of the chair / stool that you use also makes a difference as they are different heights . If you are near any of the Big Box stores that have the blinds on display , check them out . You may also have friends nearby that have blinds that you could try for size . I don't have a Hub Blind that I could shoot my bow out of .... Good luck .
  6. I managed to get get skunked this season . Finally got a shot at a doe out in a field and missed at 181 yards . It had to be me not the rifle .
  7. Just signed in . I felt like I got stabbed in the back by a couple members and took time time away from the sight to relax and enjoy life . Spent time time hunting and managed not to fill any of my Deer Tags . Spent a lot of time freezing my feet and butt though . Made it to a friend's wake and two funerals . Also attended some of my grandkid's plays , concerts and B'day parties . Took my wife to the Auditorium Theater to see the Platters , Coasters and Drifters . Only the bass singer from the Coaster was one of the originals . However , all 3 groups did a great job and brought back memories . OOPS , sorry , I thought I was typing this into my Diary .
  8. Went hunting in Geneseo with two of my sons . I had a Spike buck 20 yards from my stand and let the little guy walk . It was the only deer I saw all day . My youngest son took a shot at a buck and missed around 8:30. It went to the opposite corner of the woods and my son Matt shot it . Later Nick shot an 8 poing with his Savage 20 ga bolt action . Around 11 am ,Matt shot a doe . We took all 3 deer up to the truck , got something to eat and Matt took the deer to his home in Honeoye Falls . Nick used a different stand after lunch and I went back to the condo . Around 4:30 I heard a shot . Nick had just shot a doe . So , both boys got a buck and a doe and I got a cold . Happy for both of them . Nick's buck is on the yellow sled and it has some sort of hole in it's antler . Never saw anything like it before .
  9. Not true ..... Apparently some can get away with vulgarities ..........
  10. Just had a doe bust me and blow for a couple minutes. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  11. Had a doe standing in the dried up swamp at 50 yards. She was staring for a few minutes and then a dozen turkeys came her way and she left. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  12. To keep the feet warm in the stand , I use Toe Warmers . Bought a box of 36 pairs at BJ's Wholesale for $16 plus tax . Works out to about 50 cents a pair .
  13. Do those old deer really taste like shoe leather ?
  14. Got in my stand in the thickets by 6:20 this am . A couple minutes after 7 , it started to sprinkle . Around 8am , I heard a deer blow a way to my north . Never saw a thing all morning and was pretty much soaked . Nick said he saw a couple different doe with a fawn and 6 other doe in the neighbor's field . My son called and said he was leaving at 11 am and if I got something he could drive back 21 miles . At noon I walked to my car and sat there for a long time . My Boonie hat felt like it weighed 5 pounds . Glad it isn't a 10 gallon hat ! Tried to take a nap and nodded off a couple times . At 3:30 I walked to the stand that my son had sat in . At 5pm , I saw 5 doe feeding a couple hundred yards north in the bean field . At 5:50 , 8 turkeys walked up through the neighbor's bean field . Started up the lane way at 6:30 and saw 2 more doe . Only heard 2 gun shots this morning .
  15. Just heard a deer blow down wind in the thickets. Either winded me or heard me move to adjust my seat pad . Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  16. Going to shove off to Geneseo in a short bit and Bow hunt with my youngest son . Some rain forecasted . Gotta recheck the weather .
  17. I have never seen a piebald in the wild . That would be a great sight .
  18. A young man shot this buck in Sodus . Awesome Rack !
  19. I thought this guy had a screwed up rack and then realized it was the angle of the pictures .
