  1. I also have a Halo with angle compensation . It's small and compact and has a 4X magnification . I have a larger Bushnell but like the Halo better .
  2. I melted a pair of gloves on mine and burned a pair of trouser cuffs . Gotta be real careful !
  3. I have a Coleman Catalytic heater that I use in real cold weather when using a blind . It uses the small tanks .
  4. Went to my friend's property in Walworth and sat out for 3 hours this afternoon . Didn't see anything . Sat in my 2 man chair blind with the cross bow . It was an uncomfortable sit . I had my Bi-Fur pod shooting sticks that I use with my rifle and realized that with the grip in the "V" of the sticks , if I pulled the trigger on the cross bow , the string would hit the top of the sticks on each side . Glad I realized that before ever shooting . That would have been Bad news !
  5. Sunset is something like 551 where I am at. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

  7. Going to do an afternoon sit at my friend's property in Walworth this afternoon . It's either sit there or sit at the computer . Maybe they might come out during the daylight hours . Yeah , right !
  8. Congrats on your recovery . Persistence paid off . Good write up .
  9. Thought I would try a crossbow after watching The Field Archer's video . Took it out Saturday and had to use a de-cocking bolt twice . I had the Barnett Thump Decelerator bolt that has a large rubber stopper on it . In the am I shot it and the stopper was driven 2" up the shaft . I couldn't push it back to the original position . Same thing at the end of day ... 2 more inches . When I got home I opened the vice jaws just a bit wider than the shaft and pulled hard . No luck . I washed the front end of the stopper and tried again . Still no luck . Soooo , I put the bolt on the front side of the vice and pushed . The stopper slid and I cleared away more junk . Had to do this twice . I put the bolt back in the vice and pulled . Voila ! It worked . Is this the normal thing required have to do ? It came with 2 other stoppers that can be put on a bolt .
  10. I usually act ecstatic , fist bump my camera man , giggle and spend 10 minutes whispering into the camera as to how the deer came in and when I decided to shoot . My camera man and I get down and start tracking the deer . I have him get on the other side of the downed deer to film me approaching and put a surprised happy face on like I just found my deer . Another fist bump ! Oh wait , that's not me , that was a TV show !
  11. Mike. .Congrats on your buck. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

  16. Drove to Geneseo and arrived at 6:30 . That gave me an hour and 21 minutes to be ready for legal time . Figured I would take the easy way out and took a cross bow but also had my compound in the car just in case . My son was there before me and was already heading for the woods . Nick said he jumped 2 doe and what he thinks was a buck in the dark . He saw them with his head lamp . He didn't see anything while sitting in the woods stand and decided to leave at 11 so I walked up to the car with him . Before that I was moving an extension ladder that I had used with a chain on so I could take down a big limb to clear a shooting lane . Damned if I didn't have the ladder slip and took a chunk out of the end of my left index finger . I'm on blood thinner and it bled for quite a while . It still stings but I don't want to take the band aid off to check it out . I unloaded the atv and put my chainsaw on it and went back to the willow tree after having a sandwich and a bottle of water .Dropped the big limb . In the meantime I had pulled the trail cam cards . The one I put in the woods last week had the wrong year and times . Didn't realize that until I got home and checked out the pics . Didn't see any deer all morning . Sunset was listed as 5:58 pm . so I shot the de-cocking bolt and got down . Way out in the field was a lone doe . I stood in the thick stuff by the willow waiting for the doe to cross the field so I could get out without being spotted . It was a Long Boring day !
  17. Took cross bow today. Shot a Thumper decocking bolt when I got down this am. It drove the rubber stopper up the shaft 3 inches. Can't budge it back. ????? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
