All is quiet on the Western Front .... Geneseo. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
Gotta be careful confronting locals also . If you only hunt a spot once or twice a week or you are only at your camp on weekends and you piss off a local . Your stands or property could get trashed . They can be there when you aren't . Ya never know !

Who will be on the crossbow bandwagon tomorrow morning?
fasteddie replied to ApexerER's topic in CrossBow Hunting
I am going to give it a try tomorrow and get it out of my system . I am taking my compound bow along as well . I bought one after watching the video that First Light made . Impressed with the ease and simplicity of the crossbow . -
Irish Setter or Danner Boots?
fasteddie replied to Huntscreek's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
OOPS ! Sorry . When I saw the topic I thought it saw a choice between a Dog or Boots . -
The property is owned by a Construction Company . The family that farms it gives us permission to hunt it . Where the guy is standing is on someone else's property . We used to be able to hunt there when the original owner was alive . His son now oversees the estate and they built a house on the property on the Rt 64 . The son left a note on one of our stands that it was private property so we took it down . The son had screwed up a couple of my sons hunts by coming into the area and making a lot of noise back when his father was alive on his father's land . He even called the cops and by sons showed them the permission papers signed by the son'd mother . I am guessing this guy is a local . No other vehicles were parked anywhere nearby . I don't know what the original owner's son looked like but we thought he wasn't a hunter . Maybe he was just doing his screw up someone else's hunt routine . Wasn't expecting this to go to 3 pages .

You are so full of it ! It couldn't have been you because the guy in the photo was carrying 500 pounds of Bar Bells !

The only time I am seeing bucks is at night while driving or on my trail cams . I hope that changes this weekend .

I definitely didn't want to confront this guy . A while after he ducked into the wooded area , I spotted something about 100 yards south of me . I could see orange on the right and blue on the left and thought maybe he or someone else had left some gear out there . Then I saw some movement and the guy got up off the ground . He had been laying on his back . He had to be one weird dude !

I try to place my ladder stands at a 90 degree angle to where I would expect the deer to approach from . If I thought the deer would be coming out ot the thick growth to the south of me I would place the stand facing west . This way I would be shooting to my left with no obstructions to the shooting form . If a deer approached directly from the west I might hit my elbow on the tree trunk when drawing . I also prefer a tree with multiple trunks if possibe . It gives you a bit more cover when the leaves are gone .

Congrats . Great looking buck .

Growie. .. say a prayer to Saint Anthony. It often works for me . Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
That ladder is something someone used a couple years ago when he had a chain-on in the willow . The guy stood on the bottom rung and didn't go any higher .

No idea who he is .... There are 6 of us that have permission . 3 of us hunt bow season . Another guy , his wife and daughter hunt during gun season . I am guessing this is a local .

Saw a large red for while driving on Thornell Rd in Pittsford . Then as I turned onto West Bloomfield there was a buck standing about 20 feet off the side of the road . I was in the stand by 6:30 . Sat back and relaxed . A little after 9 I saw a couple doe go across the back lawn over 300 yards away . Didn't see anything else and left at 11 . Dropped some stuff off at my son's house , got something to eat and went to DICKs in Victor . Bought a few items and went back to the hunting area . Sat in the stand from 2:30 to 6 pm and didn't see any deer . Some guy in an orange tee shirt and blue jeans was walking around . I spotted him 300 yards down the field and he ducked into the wooded area at about 200 yards . I figured he saw me and was avoiding me . Later I saw him throught the trees , vines , etc south of my stand . I thought he was using a grunt call but he was smoking . Smelled like those small cigars , cigarellos , whatever . He came within 35 yards of my location and stood looking into the tall stuff . He never looked up at me or in my direction . Since I hadn't seen anything all afternoon , I kept quiet and hoped that he might kick something out of the thick area . Didn't happen .

Surprised to see this guy out with a crossbow . When I 1st spotted this guy he was about 300 yards away at the end of the field . He came within 200 yards and ducked into the wooded area . I spotted him a few other times and almost called to him as he didn't appear to know I was in the stand . I thought he was smoking an E-Cig until the wind changed and I could smell the stinking Cigarello . Took a few pics .

Sometimes , if I am sitting in a blind, I take my military mummy type sleeping bag with me . I have been able to stay out a lot longer that way . Got a lot of deer while doing this . I would just put it over my shoulders . It really kept the body heat in . My son in law said I should take it with me when I buy a lottery ticket but that didn't work .

Some guy in an orange tee shirt and cross bow came out of the wooded area about 200 yards away from me. He just squatted down along the edge of the field . Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -

Pretty quiet here in Pittsford. Mendon except for the vehicles hauling butt on the nearby highway . Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
I will be heading out to my Pittsford - Mendon spot in a few minutes . Trying to be optimistic . Havn't been there in a couple weeks to check anything out but the beans and corn are gone . It's only a 35 mile drive . The only thing I don't like about the spot is the uppity soccer moms blow their horns when they go by when they see me in camo .
