I never cared for the term either . It just sounds soooo wrong . But then , it's a personal thing . I consider the doe tags valuable and don't want to use them on small deer . I would rather field dress and process one large doe than to take 2 small ones . As far as many farmers feel , shoot them all .

Good job . I only had to do that once when a fawn was taking forever to cross a field . I could see with the binos that her leg was messed up . I put her down , used a tag and called the DEC in Avon . I was told that if the meat was damaged , they would give me a replacement tag . A couple years ago a friend who doesn't let anyone hunt his property , called and asked me to put down a doe that he came across and was laying in his wooded area bleeding out . I shot her and tagged her as I had one to spare . Brought her home and skinned her . There was a grayish - white liquid running through the meat . I threw the whole deer in the garbage tote . I think the liquid was the breakdown of the fat in the deer's body .

The off season Dummy doesn't scratch his ass and pick his nose !

Well , slap my ass and call me Sally . I finally got a live body to talk to and got'r done ! When asked for the Doc # in the left hand corner , I used the number there but it is my ID # . There is no Doc # on the tag . It got printed at the bottom of the previous tag . Anyway it's a done deal and I checked the rest of my deer tags to be sure things are okay .

I didn't want to put that info on the register because it said you are leaving the DEC site . Call me paranoid ...............

It would be great to be able to get hold of a mannequin and throw some clothes on it then put it in a stand .

I sometimes wonder what effect placing a dummy in a tree stand in a hunting area long before the season starts . Deer seem to recognize things that are out of place and avoid it until they figure it isn't something to worry about and go about their merry way . When hunting season opens , remove the dummy and sit in its place . Gotta try it before I get too old to climb into a stand .

I prefer Humming Bird tongues over Deer Heart !

I have never tried eating the heart . If someone prepared it and I didn't know what it was , it would probably be okay .

Larry --- That was too easy and made sense with the card . The DEC reminds me of where I worked for 35 years . We would have a system that worked and the new management would come in and change it and we would spend the next couple years trying to make it work .

Slacking off on going out as quite a bit of rain is fore-casted this week . Got this guy on cam on a friend's property but he only shows up at night ...........

I thought I would try doing the on-line reporting but didn't like the idea of leaving my driver's licence # and some of the other required info . After calling and listening to a bunch of worthless info , I was informed that the reporting was closed at 4:30 pm . I had tried at 8 pm . It used to be very simple to do . Looks like they fixed something that used to work .

Now , that's funny !
