An Evening with Charles Alsheimer

The only places I have heard Charlie's talks were at the Victory Baptist church hall in Henrietta and the Living Word hall in Ontario . -

I over reacted .............. anyway , since the church groups seem to be the only ones that sponsor any of the seminars , I don't mind the speakers giving a bit of a religious talk . I have gone to seminars with Bob Bernier , Bob Foulkrod and a guy that was into Moose / Elk hunting . Charlie is the best . By the way , I got a real nice cooler at the last dinner / seminar I attended . -

Paying for a seminar ? Any of the talks I had gone to charged $10 or less for a meal and a chance to win a door prize . Almost every time one of the places that does bratwurst . salami , pepperoni , etc ... would have samples that you could fill up on . He spends maybe 5 minutes talking about faith . If 5 minutes of listening to someone discuss his Christian faith then by all means don't attend the "expensive" seminar ! Good grief !!! I almost forgot to mention that the Sportsmans dinner / seminars are done by churches . I have never seen any done by gun clubs , etc .. -
I wear the face mask . Don't care for the paint . My 2 sons that hunt use the camo paint .

I have been to 3 or 4 of his shows . He is an excellent speaker . He doesn't change his talks much . -
If you GOOGLE some of these numbers you will see that some have been reported as nuisance callers ................

I wax the string about once a month . If the wax starts to build up , I take a length of flossing string and fasten each end to a pen or pencil so I can hold the floss taunt then wrap it around the bow string and pull hard . That draws some of the wax with junk out of the bow string . Then I re-wax it with the Scorpion Venom and the piece of leather .

You might want to shoot him before the neighbor does ............

I believe the 3 blade Rage are considered BARBED because the blades don't retract when drawn out .
-
I wonder how that will fare around Geneseo and Avon as they are pretty much horse country and somewhat flat .
-
As far as Legal goes , they aren't barbed so it shouldn't be a problem . Maybe a call to the DEC would clarify the question . I saw them advertised and did a check on reviews for the Toxic Head . They cannot be re-sharpened . They are somewhat fragile . If you buy any , give a review during the season . They keep advertising these on Camo Fire for about $23 plus shipping for 3 heads .

At my age , i'd take the shot .

When I used to go out detecting I would take a Fanny Pack and wear it in front . I used that mostly for the junk that I took out of the ground . That kept things cleaner .

Yes she does look a bit like a Jersey cow ........... Is there a bull loose somewhere ?

I have had some nice bucks on camera in the past . Once the food source changes , you don't see them in the same place anymore .

I started out about 45 years ago with a cheap JETCO Mustang metal detector . Then I purchased a used Whites Goldmaster from the SWap Sheet . A couple years ago I bought a Bounty Hunter Quick Draw II that also had a Pin Pointer small detector . Never found anything of great value ( coins , lost tools , lead soldier , keys , etc ) . Caught hell for using it in Letchworth Park .at the playground by some wanna be park cop ( park landscaper ) came wheeling in in a pickup and gave me some crap .. Had a neighbor across the way get pissed at me when his next door neighbor asked me to locate the property stakes . The PO'd neighbor had her flower garden about 4' onto the other's property . The surveyors place one stake in front , one in back and i in the middle . The Bounty Hunter has a Discriminator mode that cancels out some crap to avoid tin foil , bottle caps , etc .. In the early 70's I was using it in the town park here in Ontario ( Casey Park ) . I found a few railroad spikes and thought it was odd . When I had to do a college paper , I did it about the Iron Ore Mining in Ontario . The Ore Bed in Casey Park was due to the excavation for iron ore and at one time had a railroad spur along the ore bed to load the ore on so the spikes made sense to me after that . If you use a detector in a Public place , don't be rude to folks when they ask questions or they will hinder your fun . I wear headphones and take them off each time someone asks a question and put them back on after responding . After a bit they soon realize that they are interrupting and move on . Don't piss off the kids . They can be a real pain if you get nasty with them . I have also found arrows that were buried during practice . The easiest ones to find are the FMJs as the detector will pick up the entire length .

There aren't a lot of people that are willing to give up their time to become Hunter Safety Instructors . It is time consuming . I always thought it was silly when I would see a course scheduled the weekend before the season opener but that is mostly due to time restraints of the Instructor .
