  1. Welcome to Hunting NY !
  2. The guy behind the counter in the Hunting Dept at Dicks in Webster has been there since the store opened . The manager at the Henrietta store worked in the Webster hunting dept for several years after it opened . I have never had a problem at any of the Dicks stores . I have always mounted my scopes on my guns so I can't speak for or against on any workmanship . The last I knew the gunsmith at the local gun shop charges $75 per hour for any work done and you are on a waiting list . I had some work done at the Appletown Gun Shop in Williamson a few years ago and he wasn't too bad with rates . The owner died and the shop closed down .
  3. I have a Crimson Trace on my Ruger 380 LCP . I called the company to see if a battery was compatible and they asked when I had purchased the laser sight . They said there is a lifetime yearly free battery replacement . The lady asked for my address and they sent a battery to me . Free is always good .
  4. But gosh Paula , a few people were trying to "help" the kid . Don't you agree that Robinson should have learned something by being flogged in front of everyone on the site rather than being told by the scholars that he spelled words wrong and used improper grammar via a pm or e-mail ?
  5. A big thanks to all those who have "helped" Robinson with his spelling and grammar . He hasn't been back since the bashing errrrrrr Corrections to his post have been made .
  6. And .......... if you can't believe the NEWS media who can you believe !
  7. Do you know that when you make a purchase at Dick's there is a Website listed on the sales slip . When you go to the site and do the survey you get a printable coupon for $10 off A $50 purchase . I know that I will be getting Dick's gift cards for Christmas . I do some shopping at the Mom & Pops stores but not a lot . I don't particularly care to pay high prices to keep them in business . For small shops I like the Custom Gun Shop in Walworth and The Avon Gun Shop . I don't care for the shop in Webster , Farmington and Victor .

I didn't want someone to think they could go out with a bow , crossbow , pistol , etc ..
  9. I often think about thinning out some of those pesky squirrels but never do it . Maybe this will be the year for doing it . I really need to clean up / organize my hunting gear storage and reloading area in the basement .
  10. There was a bit of confusion at the Dicks Sporting goods store this morning. When I was ready to pay for my purchases of gun powder and bullets the cashier said, "Strip down, facing me." Making a mental note to complain to Harper about the gun registry people running amok. I did just as she had instructed. When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to my credit card. I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. They need to make their instructions to us seniors a little clearer !

Not entirely true . This is from the General Deer Damage Permit Only shotguns with rifled slugs or centerfire rifles may be used . You must possess a Big Game License and be 18 or older . The permit is only valid on lands owned , rented or leased by the Permittee , where damage is occuring , as specified in the permit .
  12. I didn't fill any of my tags this year . Had one shot during bow and one during gun but failed on both . Glad they were clean misses . Saw the arrow go over the bucks back and never touched a hair on the does back with the ML . I always had good luck in Geneseo in past years . Nothing . Didn't see any hunters on adjacent properties either . I hunted more with 2 of my sons this year than I had done in the past so I had some enjoyment there . I guess my disappointment is due to the amount of time I spent without bringing home the bacon (errrrr venison ) !
  13. Have any of you done much of anything adjusting the accu-trigger ?
  14. I usually talk to Dave Fladd . He takes good care of me .
  15. I was in Penfield today and stopped by Beikirchs since I was fairly close . The place was mobbed . Parking lot was full and vehicles were parking on the lawn . Customers were backed up to the outer door . The gun shelves were less than 1/2 full . There wasn't anything I actually needed so I didn't hang around .
  16. Does anyone own one of these ? My oldest son wants to buy one for deer hunting . I looked up reviews on the gun and folks claim they are tack drivers but have many negative responses concerning the bolt doesn't stay locked down and some slugs will jam or won't extract .
  17. I have seen one pheasant in the past 5 years . What beautiful birds . A club I belonged to used to buy birds and turn them loose . They didn't survive . With many hedgerows gone they lost a lot of cover . The fox and yotes would get them . A couple of the "helpers" who were releasing the birds were caught with guns and dogs while doing this ( so I had been told ) . I only ever went pheasant hunting twice . Got one my 2nd time out . Didn't care for the taste and never bothered to hunt them again .
  18. Wouldn't it have been better to just PM Robinson rather than hammer away at him in posts ? One could have done that couldn't one !
  19. I found that if I keep them a ways away from my eyes they don't fog up much . I try to expose them to the cold air so they are the same temp as the cold outside air but the heat from my face when I put them up to my eyes causes the fogging . I was wondering if there was / is a simple solution for the problem . I set them on the backpack rather than have them hang around my neck .
  20. Speaking of Jim Beam ............. My wife asked me the other day, "At your age, what would you prefer to get - Parkinson's or Alzheimer's?" I answered, "Definitely Parkinson's. It's better to spill half an ounce of Jim Beam, than to forget where you keep the bottle!!"
