  1. I was on a property on Middle Cheshire Road in Canandaigua Thursday and these deer were casually feeding in a yard .
  2. The squirrels were running all around . Before I got down at noon I thought I would take a shot at one and they quit coming around . Mental telepathy by the squirrels ?
  3. There is still a lot of standing corn around and no reason for the deer to move much at all . They can just stay there all day . This coming week is going to be un-seasonably warm so that doesn't help matters . I have the guy from Safe-Lite Glass coming here tomorrow to repair a stone chip in my windshield which messes up my day . I may try a friend's property close to home in the afternoon .
  4. I am starting to get bored . Drove to Groveland and was in a stand by 6:45 . Sat there until 10:30 and saw nothing . Walked through the woods , along a corn field , through some thjck stuff and back to the stand . Walked up to my niece's house at 12:30 to meet up with my 4 sisters . We went through some of my Mom & Dad's stuff to get rid of it . I went back out to the stand and sat from 4:30 o 6:30 and didn't see a thing all day long . I usually see deer on the way home but nothing today .......... It rained a couple times but not hard . When the wind picked up , it looked like it was raining leaves .
  5. The wife and I spent 3 weeks on Cyprus this past August . We had lamb , goat and rabbit . The goat was tasty . Good luck getting permission to take it out !
  6. When she asked if you had some ID , you should have responded , about what !
  7. That makes no sense at all . A person could hunt over crops ( corn , beans , apples , etc. ) and it would be legal unless the product was it in a pile . I also call BS on the above post .
  8. Nice vids .....enjoyed them . I think I would have arrowed one of them . I have passed up bucks only to eat the tags . At 71 years old I am about to change / lower my standards .
  9. I used to hang them by the neck because that is what I was told . I have hung them by the back legs ever since I started butchering my own many years ago . If the trachea is cut out the blood can drain . I don't believe in disrespecting an animal but how much respect do you show something that you are going to cut in pieces shortly !
  10. Tonight should be the final game for the Yankees for the season .
  11. Hmmmmmmm , what does America make ?
  12. Well I stopped at Dick's in Webster this am and talked to the Store Manager . He said I could use my $20 coupon and he would subtract the $20 for the rebate . I bought the $100 3-D target for $60 plus I was able to use the triple points coupon . Love the Dick's Sporting Goods Stores . I asked the girl at the counter if they asked for ID when an ammo purchase . She said only if the customer didn't look old enough to be buying the ammo .
  13. Got that in an e-mail a few days ago . Several deer have been impaled on the Wadworth's fences in Geneseo over the years .
  14. Nice pics Larry . Thanks for sharing !
  15. Drove to Mendon this am and met up with my youngest son at a spot on West Bloomfield road . He had to go back home and get his quiver . His arrows are over 800grain and mine are only 430 so we didn't think it would be feasable for him to use mine . He only had about 5 miles to his house . Anyway I was in the stand by 6:30 . Saw a buck at 9 am about 200 yards out . That was it for the morning . Took a couple practice 25 yards shots before climbing down . Still on ! Stopped off , got a coffee and something to eat then went to my son's house in Honeoye Falls and took an hour nap . My oldest and youngest sons and I went to a spot on Route 251 where we have 5 stands set up in a triangle woods . The soybeans had been harvested . Tall grass overgrown field on the East and a corn field behind us . Deer have been there all summer . None of us saw anything . Except for BS'ing , it was a boring afternoon. Saturday I plan to try Groveland again .
  16. what I didn't realize is that the price is with a $2 rebate per box making the final price 98 cents per box . I Believe the original price was $4.98 per box .
  17. I figured i'd get $20 off with the Dick's coupon and then another $20 with the rebate . What bothers me is the rebate deadline has passed but they still have the sign up . And we should check out any rebates before commiting .
  18. I don't have a problem with an ID check . I have to show a picture every two weeks when they take a blood test . No big deal .
  19. Havn't hunted since Saturday but I went down to a friend's property this am to put ratchet straps on 2 stands . I had cut them loose last winter so the trees wouldn't be girded . Not much deer sign but a few tracks . I have a ladder stand and a chain-on at the property . My ladder to the chain-on needs repair . I have never had a shot at any deer on that property . They seem to travel intermittant through there ........
  20. No , "we" aren't stuck with a-Rod . The Yankees and fans are . I have never been a NY yankee fan . Always rooted against them .
  21. Cold Winter Ahead It's late fall and the Indians on a remote reservation in South Dakota asked their new chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets. When he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the winter was going to be like. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he told his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect firewood to be prepared. But, being a practical leader, after several days, he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, 'Is the coming winter going to be cold?' 'It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold,' the meteorologist at the weather service responded. So the chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more firewood in order to be prepared. A week later, he called the National Weather Service again. 'Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?' 'Yes,' the man at National Weather Service again replied, 'it's going to be a very cold winter.' The chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of firewood they could find. Two weeks later, the chief called the National Weather Service again. 'Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?' 'Absolutely,' the man replied. 'It's looking more and more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters we've ever seen.' 'How can you be so sure?' the chief asked. The weatherman replied, 'The Indians are collecting a $hitload of firewood'
  22. A-Rod should be giving a big chunk of his paycheck to Raul Ibanez !
  23. Delta McKenzi Swamp Buck 3-D target at Dick's is listed as $99.98 with a $20 rebate from Delta making it $79.98 . I asked to see a copy of the rebate and it states that it had to be purchased between July 1 , 2012 and October 1 , 2012 . The store manager said the company would honor the late purchase . I called Delta and they said "NO" ! So if there is a rebate on a purchase you are making , check it out before the purchase .
