Hmmmmmmm , what does America make ?

Well I stopped at Dick's in Webster this am and talked to the Store Manager . He said I could use my $20 coupon and he would subtract the $20 for the rebate . I bought the $100 3-D target for $60 plus I was able to use the triple points coupon . Love the Dick's Sporting Goods Stores . I asked the girl at the counter if they asked for ID when an ammo purchase . She said only if the customer didn't look old enough to be buying the ammo .

Got that in an e-mail a few days ago . Several deer have been impaled on the Wadworth's fences in Geneseo over the years .

Fast Eddie's Fables --- 2012 Edition

Drove to Mendon this am and met up with my youngest son at a spot on West Bloomfield road . He had to go back home and get his quiver . His arrows are over 800grain and mine are only 430 so we didn't think it would be feasable for him to use mine . He only had about 5 miles to his house . Anyway I was in the stand by 6:30 . Saw a buck at 9 am about 200 yards out . That was it for the morning . Took a couple practice 25 yards shots before climbing down . Still on ! Stopped off , got a coffee and something to eat then went to my son's house in Honeoye Falls and took an hour nap . My oldest and youngest sons and I went to a spot on Route 251 where we have 5 stands set up in a triangle woods . The soybeans had been harvested . Tall grass overgrown field on the East and a corn field behind us . Deer have been there all summer . None of us saw anything . Except for BS'ing , it was a boring afternoon. Saturday I plan to try Groveland again . -
12 & 20 ga Rifled Slugs at Dick's
fasteddie replied to fasteddie's topic in Deals, Coupons and Specials
what I didn't realize is that the price is with a $2 rebate per box making the final price 98 cents per box . I Believe the original price was $4.98 per box . -
I figured i'd get $20 off with the Dick's coupon and then another $20 with the rebate . What bothers me is the rebate deadline has passed but they still have the sign up . And we should check out any rebates before commiting .

I don't have a problem with an ID check . I have to show a picture every two weeks when they take a blood test . No big deal .

Fast Eddie's Fables --- 2012 Edition

Havn't hunted since Saturday but I went down to a friend's property this am to put ratchet straps on 2 stands . I had cut them loose last winter so the trees wouldn't be girded . Not much deer sign but a few tracks . I have a ladder stand and a chain-on at the property . My ladder to the chain-on needs repair . I have never had a shot at any deer on that property . They seem to travel intermittant through there ........ -
No , "we" aren't stuck with a-Rod . The Yankees and fans are . I have never been a NY yankee fan . Always rooted against them .

Cold Winter Ahead It's late fall and the Indians on a remote reservation in South Dakota asked their new chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets. When he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the winter was going to be like. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he told his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect firewood to be prepared. But, being a practical leader, after several days, he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, 'Is the coming winter going to be cold?' 'It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold,' the meteorologist at the weather service responded. So the chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more firewood in order to be prepared. A week later, he called the National Weather Service again. 'Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?' 'Yes,' the man at National Weather Service again replied, 'it's going to be a very cold winter.' The chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of firewood they could find. Two weeks later, the chief called the National Weather Service again. 'Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?' 'Absolutely,' the man replied. 'It's looking more and more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters we've ever seen.' 'How can you be so sure?' the chief asked. The weatherman replied, 'The Indians are collecting a $hitload of firewood'

Delta McKenzi Swamp Buck 3-D target at Dick's is listed as $99.98 with a $20 rebate from Delta making it $79.98 . I asked to see a copy of the rebate and it states that it had to be purchased between July 1 , 2012 and October 1 , 2012 . The store manager said the company would honor the late purchase . I called Delta and they said "NO" ! So if there is a rebate on a purchase you are making , check it out before the purchase .

I was in Dick's sporting Goods Store in Webster today . They have Federal rifled slugs on sale for $ .98 . Normally $2.98 . I thought about buying some but I only shoot 1 or 2 shotgun slugs a year . I still have some Winchester and Federal rifled slugs left .

I used to pack it in when it started raining and found it to be a mistake . It seems the deer often move to feed when the rain starts . I have had a few deer kills while it was lightly raining . The rain helps cover up sound and that is a helper .

I prefer using the Beam Scale but you could get a digital scale cheap . Here are a couple of possibilities from Midway Shooting Supplies . If you can find one of these in a gun / ammo supply store , it might be cheaper due to Midway's shipping costs . http://www.midwayusa.com/product/658771/redding-2-master-magnetic-powder-scale-505-grain-capacity http://www.midwayusa.com/product/175512/frankford-arsenal-ds-750-electronic-powder-scale-750-grain-capacity

Yeah , the $100 mil Dud !

Yeah , my SIL has 2 horses and lives in "horse country" (Geneseo) . One of the guys said when they ride the trails through the high grass that bedded deer will stand up , look and lay back down . I thought , wouldn't it be great to bow hunt from horseback ! I usually step in some horse crap when going to the stand for a little cover scent . If you do this , use the side rungs of the ladder stand to climb up .
-
All 3 are nice !
-
The guy who farms my SIL's property planted some late soy beans . The plants are almost one foot high . I expected to see the deer hitting them but they are NOT doing that .
-
I thought you were on a sabbatical leave for a while ..........
-
Not a bad idea . Have it weighed on a calibrated scale before using . Some bullets can vary a grain or so . Mark it with a felt tip before weighing . I would try something like a 240 grain bullet if I were to do this .

Congrats on your 1st bow kill !
