  1. nothing walked by the couch
  2. Yes, crossbows are currently considered muzzleloaders for late season
  3. I'm only 53 and have a lot of the same memories. Hunting in my area (8J) sure has changed. I'll admit yesterday was the 1st Thanksgiving morning in years that I didn't hunt, hope I didn't start a new tradition...
  4. If someone got a ticket for an under-sized crossbow, me thinks it's a situation where they were poaching or doing something painfully stupid, and multiple citations were written - the old "throw everything at them and see what sticks". No way DEC randomly measured someone's crossbow and wrote 'em up....
  5. Never used either one but do have friends and family that give positive reviews. https://fingerlakesmeat.com/ https://justplainbusiness.com/log-city-meats/
  6. From what me and my daughter have seen the past few days, I would say they're locked down in 8J
  7. Chupacabra. Definitely chupacabra.
  8. Plant maybe dead but wonder about the urushiol and how long it will be active. Never used these before, would be interesting to see how much clothing get contaminated when exposed to active plants. https://seeleaf.com/
  9. They send to phone when they take a picture. they also keep a copy on the card in the camera
  10. Year round. They are Spy point cell cameras with either Litium-ion battery packs or solar powered. Usually visit each camera 2 -3 times a year to replace battery, trim brush / leaves or re-position a bit. They have high-capacity SD cards, so carry cards when I visit, and only swap if one is near capacity.
  11. Another year older, but not wiser... Thanks all
  12. Please don't let all this back and forth regarding hunting forums distract you from the fact that Al Bundy scored 4 touchdowns in a single game playing for the Polk High Panthers during the 1966 City Championship game.
  13. The scene of the crime... Story with pictures
  14. Carry in a sling pack that has a bunch of Supples like rubber gloves, survey tape, extra knife, paracord and binos. Amazon link- I got the digital camo pattern. https://www.amazon.com/FAMI-Tactical-Shoulder-Messenger-Necessities/dp/B00Y61F78Y?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1
  15. 2 different "kits" in water-proof cases - depending on which muzzle loader I'm carrying...
  16. Any bulk grinding I do is generally 1lb pork butt to 9 lb. venison. Family loves LEM hot Italian Sauage mix, so the majority of meet is seasoned that way. Smaller batches of breakfast sausage same ratio. Any grind for jerky is straight venison.
  17. Opener? I've been carrying a muzzle loader since November 18th. Haven't carried a shotgun during southern season since 2009.
  18. A few more details: https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/who-can-claim-property-based-adverse-possession-new-york.html
  19. Gotta love that Turnbull bone charcoal finish...
  20. Outdated story - The sponsor of the "purple paint" bill, Senator Seward served from January 2003 - December 2020. The bill, however, is currently sitting in Senate committee. https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2023/A3661
  21. Been a member here since 2011. Post from time to time when I feel like contributing. Joined "the other site" back when it first started - post from time to time there as well. Member of a few other sites related to hunting / fishing / outdoor activities. This thread is the best read I've seen in a while on any of them.
