  1. I can remember when the LGS would always throw in a box of ammo with your gun purchase. I also remember when looking at handguns (or any gun for that matter), the guy behind the counter would give you 3 rounds and point you in the direction of either the indoor range (if available) or the outdoor range.
  2. Does it make me a bad person that I have these bouncing around my collection? (late 80's - early 90's)
  3. About 10 years ago, my wife backed her car into mine while in our driveway. Insurance company charged us the $500 deductible times 2 (Once for each vehicle). I called BS and told them that I would cancel the claim and file a claim through homeowners' insurance instead. (Same company) They said it would be insurance fraud, so no go. Total damage was around $3500 on both vehicles. A few weeks later we had a glass claim, and then a month later a car-deer accident. Insurance provider said we were too high a risk and dropped up. My agent shopped around and got us same coverage for vehicles & homeowners at a lower annual rate. Best part is that it was through the same provider that dropped up due to high risk....
  4. I've been doing a bunch of research on DIY solar set-ups. Thinking I'm going to try that battery (or any one with BMS) with a 5- or 10-watt solar panel to keep it charged. With the solar panel in the mix, a voltage regulator on the output side is needed to keep from frying the camera.
  5. There are other grassroot attempts to separate NYC's power apart from the rest of the state. Here's another website https://www.divideny.org/
  6. Thoughts on this growth? Body lines and coat looks pretty heathy, so not sure if it's slowing him down at all. Sorry for the low-resolution, having issues downloading the high-res photos.
  7. Spypoint cell cams offer 100 free photos per month. Unlimited plan is $10-15 per month depending on if you pay monthly or 1 annual payment. https://www.spypoint.com/en/spypoint-experience/plans
  8. A gun-owning Lawyer breaks down NY's actions and explains why the stragety won't work. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  9. I started out in the cell-phone camera game a few years ago with these; I grabbed one of these to see how the Spy Point App worked. I liked it, so I have since added a bunch of full SpyPoint Cameras to the mix. Yes, they work pretty well but there are some things to be aware of. 1. They have a small ribbon cable that has an SD card shaped plug that goes into your camera's SD card slot. I had to grind out some of the plastic on the camera door so the cable wouldn't get damaged when the door closed. The cable is short, so when you mount the camera, the cell-link has to be pretty close. The cable is also easy to damage if you drop the camera / cell-link when they're connected or if a squirrel decides to chew on it. 2. Double the batteries - cell-link uses 8 AA batteries or external power pack. Then add in whatever batteries your camera uses. The cell-link will transmit its battery status but not the camera's. Once you stop getting pictures, it's good indication the camera battery is dead. 3. Can only transmit still pictures. Newer self-contained cameras will transmit video 4. The Cell-link transmits a low-resolution picture at first. You have to requests a full-res picture to be downloaded - there is a cost in the plans for the hi-res downloads. The high-res pictures are stored on a Micro SD card in the cell-link so you can pull the card to access them. The cell-link has no problem transmitting with my 10-megapixel WGI cameras. 5. Pictures and camera control is accessed via a website or an app for your phone (both Apple and Android). The photos are transmitted and stored on the website. You get a notification from the app that new pictures have been received. It's not an SMS-based text message. You can download the low-res photos from the website, or pull the original photos from the card in the Spy-link 6. Cell-coverage; your mileage may vary. On my hunting property, I can get anywhere from 100% signal quality down to almost 0. When I purchased the cell-links, I didn't have a choice of cell-carriers to choose from. Honestly have no idea where my devices are getting their signal from.
  10. If temps are cool, I may sit on a field edge or two; biggest concern is I don't have a deer fridge, so if I do harvest something, will have to de-bone break it down pretty quickly and get it into the 2nd family fridge to age for a few days. 8J hunter - Early season allows firearms, bow and crossbow; most likely will carry the bow or muzzleloader can't see changing anything up from how I normally hunt.
  11. Sounds like the State's argument to defend the poorly written law is the main source of confusion. Can only hold for an injunction and outright overturning of the NYS concealed carry "improvement" act.
  12. Not exactly, the Mall's rules state no firearms, but Indiana law only allows a violator of these rules to be removed from the property and trespassed. Basically, the same rules currently for New York State. After September 1st, however it will be a felony...
  13. I have dozens of pictures from trail cams over the years where deer and coyote have walked the same path within minutes / hours of each other.
  14. Is this the beginning of the end for the SAFE act ? Is FPC more effective than the NRA ? How many members support the FPC ? - if not should we ? FPC Files Lawsuit Challenging New York “Assault Weapons’ Ban as Unconstitutional - Firearms Policy Coalition
  15. There's a bunch of these in the woods where I hunt. Definitely wouldn't want to eat out of them...
  16. I would make a comment, but as a holder of a NYS Pistol Permit for almost 30 years, I can no longer use my 1st Amendment right of Free Speech, as it will be used against me when my Permit is renewed...
  17. Have 2 boxes of 50 rounds each. Both are unopened. Wife bought these, she thought they were 17HMR. After bringing them home, she found out they can't be returned. Told her if I can't sell / trade them away, she'll have to go out and purchase me my 1st. 17HM2 rifle. Open to offers / trades / or give away to a good home that will give these things the attention I can't.
  18. My office at the facility has a stand-up desk. At home it's only a regular sit down desk. That's the only materialistic thing I miss working from home. The face to face interaction with humams other than my family, that's another conversation... https://theoatmeal.com/comics/working_home Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
