  3. Thanks Pygmy. I will check out a tackle shop nearby.
  4. I am trying to make a wing bone call and have a few questions for anyone who has done it before. I have seen many you tube videos and know how to do it and put together, in fact that is the easy part cause I am that far along What I want to know and cant find is how to make the joint connections look fancy, by that I mean some of the ones you see on the various sites have different colors where the bone sections fit together. (See below.) I can not find any place that gives instruction/ materials needed. If anyone knows & can please forward me any info I would appreciate it. Many thanks
  5. Great point, Lurking I found that out the hard way !! I am such an awesome shot hahaha that I put an arrow through two twigs and it landed right on the ground next to the beautiful 8 pointer I waited for all season last year.
  6. Very simple and super delicious Take the breast and cut into strips ( long and thin) Marinade in the following for 24 hours 2-3 beaten eggs ( depending on how many pieces) 1/3 cup butternut squash bisque soup ( again adjust for amount of turkey) 2-3 tablespoons sour cream (same) salt and pepper to taste chopped fresh parsley take them out bread and fry lightly. Once all done put in a baking dish with mushrooms and chicken broth for moisture bake 20 mins @ 350. Serve with rice/pasta/mashed potatoes whichever you prefer and a vegetable
  7. 17-19 # I would guess. I got 2 huge pieces of breast meat, prob about 2-3 lbs each.
  8. Nomad, Was thinking the same thing ! I am beyond certain that they probably monitor the site and perhaps a few of them are "members" looking for posts, pics etc that need follow up
  9. Thank you. I have had up and down luck, unfortunately every time I had down luck I was with my son. I would rather see him shoot one than me. I called one in for a friend ( his 1st ever ) and for another friends son.....my boy thinks I am mad at him or just a black cloud when he's hunting with me, we had good action and made some memories, and that's what it's all about.
  10. Had a great day this past Saturday. I got this guy around 7:40 when I called him in accompanied by a jake and 2 hens, which I thought was kind of odd, but I'll take it. He had an 8" beard and 7/8" spurs, I know I'm not in the running because I cant go out again, but I want to congratulate all the members for putting up some really nice birds and a very big THANKS to WNY Buck Hunter for putting it all together.
  11. Thanks all for the comments and feedback we got another Turkey addict on our hands. This weekend I go back to my place, and my 15 year old son said he's gonna call one in for me !!! I certainly hope so.
  12. Awesome pic awesome bird. Good luck with him
  13. A friend invited me to his family's land to turkey hunt w/ him. He had never turkey hunted before. Nice place and lots of sign. We got out Monday and had immediate action, 2 or 3 on the roost and I began to work them, however in the middle of bringing them in I enticed 3 jakes from bind us, who actually came in silent from our left across a big field 70-80 yards out and went in the direction of the big boys, and I never heard from them again. The remainder of the day was very uneventful although my buddy was happy to have seen and heard some birds. The next day, Tuesday had so many birds going from the time we stepped out of the house I did not know where to start. I began with a bird across the street and we set up on him and listened to him go crazy in the tree with the help of an owl and the other birds in the area. When I heard him fly down I gave him a few soft calls, to which he answered, but he did not want to play, he headed off in the other direction and we went back behind the farm. I intended to work the same birds from Monday, and while heading to the area we heard one gobble on his own. We immediately set up on this lone bird and I began trying to bring him in, he was going crazy answering me and as he was coming in I realized had a real hen helping from behind. I thought she was going to screw the whole thing up, but I think she may have actually helped, I stopped calling and let her do the work. Within 5-7 minutes he appeared. My buddy was able to take him at 30 yards. He had an 8" beard and 1 " spurs, probably 19-20 lbs. I think my friend is hooked on Turkey hunting. I am so satisfied that I was able to help him harvest his 1st bird and get out in the woods and create a memory which he, (or I for that matter) will never forget.
  14. My son and I are going up tonite and will hopefully get out both days ( if the weather cooperates). It's his last year for the youth hunt. He is psyched, but I think I am more excited to go than he is.!!!!!!
  15. no coating based upon recommendation of my friend who has done it numerous times
  16. I decided to do my own European mount on my deer. Not only was it fun, but I really enjoyed all that was involved in prepping boiling, mounting. It was much easier than I thought, just time consuming but very worthwhile I am so satisfied with how it came out and wanted to share, it kept me in hunting mode as I did it, and also got me thinking about this upcoming season.
  17. Sorry to hear, and so young. My thoughts and prayers...
  18. took the drive up from Long Island w/ my daughter, we enjoyed walking around and spending a few dollars
