  1. was the view line of your aim very close to the ground horizon? Enough that the barrel being lower may have let the bullet impact the ground? I would think you would see a big scuff with the bullet going across the ground if it did.
  2. I wish I had their motivation...lol
  3. I believe the trick to good bear is cooking it raised. grill, roast in a rack and so on. I like to use a rub that is 50% brown sugar and 50% Montreal steak seasoning. I put it in a blender and pulverize it. rub on the meat (steaks and backstraps usually) and wrap in saran wrap. Place in fridge over night and then remove and grill. I like it medium rare (Medium at the most) just like venison. You will hear the accounts and warnings about trichinosis but I've eaten 5 bears and am still here to type. I will say that the bears are a poster child for "you are what you eat". If it is a "dump bear" I wouldn't waste my time, mainly because of the ungodly smell.
  4. I am going to try the rages on the crossbow I just got. I had been shootign Montec G5's and love them on my compound. When i was shootign a Bowtech Black night 2 it was a fast bow especially after moving up from my Proline. My Proline with thunderheads, I always passed through a deer. I moved to the Black night and tried a fold back mechanical. probably a half dozen deer and NEVER passed through with those. I will never use a fold back mechanical again. I like hoe the rage deploys and will give it a shot on the crossbow but very happy with the Montec's on the compound bow
  5. a conversation is a pissing contest? Just wondering how your hunting is impacted by other activities that have been around a lot longer than early ML
  6. Yeah, keep reading. we moved past that...lol
  7. How it "your time" impacted by early season bear, small game hunters, turkey hunters and waterfowlers? I was up in NZ this past weekend for the opener. except for the 6 shots from the guys I was with, I heard 4 more all weekend.
  8. I have seen my grandfather and grandmother do this with small game to "help draw out clots and break them up" I can't see what it would do on a heart that is opened up and cleaned. trimmed of the tendony fibers and fat. I would soak a steak in salt water over night so I can't see the use.
  9. How about something bluetooth so you can get a signal right on your phone. https://www.tindie.com/products/Michael_Phillips/wireless-refrigeratorfreezer-sensoralarm/ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0081UR76G/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0081UR76G&linkCode=as2&tag=freezerhub-20&linkId=CG7ZQJA3YHHH2ZPD
  10. I cut mine in strips like you would a bell pepper. Love it lightly fried and really really love it pickled.
  11. Bet that works good but the best thing for dealing with a walnut tree is this ...lol
  12. I didn't understand. I was looking at this backwards. I thought the pic had the broadhead point on the right and not the left. I see what you mean about them opening to past 90 degrees now.
  13. Their information says that once deployed they lock and become a fixed blade broadhead. Even if they pivot back forward, if they don't make it to 90degrees they are barbed
  14. If they lock in that design they are a barbed broadhead and not legal in NY
  15. I was out up there for the muzzle loader opener. There were 5 of us and I hit two properties. lots and lots of does. We took 4. I walked around a bit but it was very loud with the leaves. There are normal areas that I see very good buck sign and active rub and scrape lines. I found one lone scrape and it didn't look that used. Unless this colder weather helps I sure didn't see anything this weekend that made me think next weekend would be full bore.
  16. Well he needs his head pulled out of a dark unsanitary place then
  17. I would be all about taking a more aggressive approach and agree with striking first. The solution I proposed was the most appeasing one I would consider and offered it in response to the "let him win, hold your hat in your hand, bend over and grab your ankles and go hunt somewhere else" that NFA-ADK proposed
  18. BS, It is HIS property. Take the guy on. Video his antics and give him one and only one courtesy conversation with a witness. I have you on video, mention the hunter harassment laws and let him know the next time it happens he will be gettign a visit from the law.
  19. Hope to be joining that traditional harvest group myself. Wonderful job. Congrats
  20. My wife cut the lawn on Saturday. I will probably let her do it a few more times before I change the oil and put it away.
  21. cold and old muscles suck. I'd try the adhesive back ones and place on your shoulder. I used it one year when I through out my back loading a buck on the wheeler and it seem to work some.
