  1. Welcome. It would be beneficial if you said where you are from and what areas you are looking to hunt in.
  2. I posted this last week I think. once you finally get the scope picked out and mount it, it is imperative that it be adjusted correctly for you. The eye relief mentioned above is critical and tying that to the proper height rings. you should be able tot go through the process below and have a full circle clear view through the scope. When you shoulder a gun you should not have to "adjust" your form to get a full picture through the scope. When It's right it works wonderfully. When it doesn't fit it can be frustrating. Previous post--- """I've never had a problem getting on a moving deer with a scope. My father trained me early on on how to do it and it works. Step one and the most important is to have the scope and gun set up and it fits you. This means the eye relief of the scope, pull of the gun and clarity of the crosshair just to name a few. Time after time with your eyes closed...shoulder the gun and then open your eyes. If you don't see a full scope picture with clear crosshairs something isn't right. repeat...repeat...repeat. Once that is good, dry practice on an object. DON'T shoulder the gun and then try to find the object with the scope. if you keep your eyes laser focused on the object and shoulder the gun, brining it INTO your line of sight the crosshairs are going to be on , or very near the object. Sounds easy, and it is once you train your body and eyes. You don't even want to blink during this shouldering process. I promise it will work. """ crosshairs can be focused using the ring at the eyepiece. Do this at a solid white background.
  3. Larry. Gotta get one of these. I've seen some beautiful polished stuff come out of them. https://www.harborfreight.com/dual-drum-rotary-rock-tumbler-67632.html?cid=paid_google|||67632&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=&utm_content=&gclid=Cj0KCQiAmL-ABhDFARIsAKywVaezzX4kl7PUYjzwQAomL0F42_Vgq1jUC3TG-xYJTGorEEy6JHq_VyQaAvKUEALw_wcB
  4. That is a fixed 4 power with a 32 MM objective. (opposite end from the eye piece). Typically the larger that number the more light that is let in (generally). glass quality and coatings will have an impact. For instance a really high quality scope with a 32 mm objective may let more light in (and efficiently use it) and give you a clearer image than a lower quality 44 mm objective on a cheap scope. A scope that is 2-7x44 is a variable power scope. 2 to 7 times magnification with a 44 mm objective. bigger objectives typically require higher mounting rings so there is clearance to the barrel. This may not line up correctly for you line of sight. I have big cheek bones and on a monty carlo stock I need higher rings than the average person becasue my line of sight is higher above the barrel. So since I have the clearance I typically use a bigger objective. Field of view decreases as you increase magnification but comparing a 4x scope of various manufacturers you will see differences in the numbers as well. To adjust the magnification on a scope there is typically a "ring" at the eye piece that is labeled and indexed. turn it to increase the magnification to the desire power.
  5. Well boys and girls. Color us done. Pulled everything on Saturday. What a cold freaking day that was. We had a fun season and learned a lot. I'm looking forward to next year. The frost was so deep and tight even the new disposable ancho puller I made wouldn't budge them. In the off season I will be fabbing a skinning machine. (maybe I'll post that build on here) making some more stretching boards and getting some bulk dry and waxed dirt put up. Beaver season is open until April 7th in the general area. If I were to find a place with some I might try so set in March but not expecting that. Thanks for following along.
  6. We run the ECCOtemp 5 at camp. Works great with a 12 volt RV water pump. I am going to up the unit this year. When our outiside water tank temp get in the 40's it doesn't quite have enough BTU's to get to nice hot shower level. I have been pumping water into a 40 gallon tank in the loft to sit and warm up just for showers. That works great but just gong to try an eliminate a step with a bigger unit. one I have now. https://www.eccotemp.com/eccotemp-l5-portable-outdoor-tankless-water-heater/ One I am getting. https://www.eccotemp.com/eccotemp-i12-indoor-4-0-gpm-liquid-propane-tankless-water-heater/
  7. What someone views as a threat can be much different than someone else...that said, I believe this HUGE domestic terrorist threat by WS or any other domestic group is over blown. They want us scared and looking to "them" for protection. It justifies their paychecks. If you added up all the deaths for the one year period covered by the report that were caused by domestic terrorists. and Average of 10 people a day in the US drown in non-boat related incidents. I'd like to see property damage dollars by each extremist group.
  8. I've used both and didn't see any difference at 100 yards.
  9. It did "ok" because there was no other option. Red dots and side mounts and other "gadgets" remind me of the saying --- Jack of all trades, master of none.
  10. I've looked at them. I like the Yukon a little better. I like that the bigger Yukons have wheels and the dry baskets are standard. I imagine the all the rotomolded are pretty equal except for price and options.
  11. I had a scope on my top eject 94 and it was just off to the left upper corner of the receiver. It wasn't ideal but a slight tip of the head with your cheek still bedded on the stock and you could use the fixed 4 power scope. I did have to turn the scope however. The windage adjusted elevation and the elevation adjusted windage., or the spent casing would hit the turret and drop back in the action.
  12. They also show it in the chart but they don't disclose which events they are attributing to the White Supremacists Edit: They also don't disclose what groups are categorized in each section or even if the "protest" from 2018-2019 were included
  13. I think a lot about the firearm and shot size selection has to be determined by how the dogs work as well. I loved hunting over my Uncle's dogs when he ran short hounds that worked nice and slow. Often the hares would hop and stop and stand up to listen for the dogs. A rim fire would work great there. He also had a par years before that you were shooting at a white laser line becasue the dogs were pushing so fast...lol.
  14. I think they were pieces of 3/8" thick angle iron I cut on an angle.

  16. true story. .458 caliber is about $1.25 a bullet on the low end unless you want all lead bullets. It's nuts out there even on reloading components.
  17. I understand that. That's why I clearly said it was from Idaho. It obviously doesn't reflect what southern fur is going to bring either. I was more shocked at the 100% sales.
  18. Just saw these on the Idaho Trappers Association site. Lines won't post well but it quantity offered/Average/high and %sold. I like seeing the %sold being at 100%. Might mean there is speculation that there will be some market, especially on things like coons (even though the price is low) The skunk surprises me and add to that the market for the essence and it might make sense to target them.
