Larry. the correlation I see with speeding is more on the enforcement side and how far the participants will push the limits given a change. Speed limit when I started driving on the Thruway was 55. if you went 70 you got picked up but if you didn't go over 65 you were pretty safe. Now it is 65. They don't even blink if you are under 75. Is a ECO gonna write a ticket for 10 -20 minutes past shooting light? I think it would be rare. if they move it to 1/2 hour after you KNOW there will be those that still run the 10-20 minutes past the posted limit?

I have only been approached twice in all my hunting time and both were on state land. Never on private land. Fishing is another story but like was already stated they have people more concentrated and can approach more fishermen at a time.
-
So at 5:35 the members on this thread let it walk? Confident in that?
-
I just know this whole thing is just like the speed limit law no matter how many try to avoid the comparison. Given what I have heard in this thread let me ask this. We get the law changed. SS is 5:00 pm. we can now hunt until 5:30. "the buck of a lifetime" strolls by at 5;35.???? how far is too far without a defined line.

I will point out however that in the NZ the bow hunters are in the woods with the ML hunters for a week and I haven't heard of a case of a bow hunter being shot by a ML hunter.
-
You are probably better off elsewhere. You keep preaching that no one checks with you about the laws but have yet to even hint that you are willing to take steps to push for change. Well keep an eye out because there is poaching law changes coming and the trivial fines for poaching are headed up.
-
That is not the law. If you believe otherwise, please show us. More and more you prove you lack of general hunting regulations with every post. Have you ever thought of trying knitting?

What I really find humorous that a DEER can be that important in your life.
-
You are able at any point to lobby for legislative changes. If you believe it is wrong there is a process.

Doc. It would take a lot of trust that I don't have in NY government to stand behind them to implement the use of a gun for the part or entire bow season. Even under the guise of a management tool in these high population areas when they haven't exhausted other possibilities. It is an enjoyment concern for me, a hunting heritage concern. And it does need to be preserved. I don't this k that is selfish or elitist. As I said before , I hunt. If they offered an additional spear season I would take it up. To me they need to expand opportunities and failing that, the right move is antler less only with the GUNS and that should be in a portion (first) it the entire (last) gun season. It only makes sense because of the efficiency of the weapon

I really think some of the history behind Doc's original post is the big gun the DEC is holding to the heads of the hunters in the over populated areas (bow hunters specifically) They have said the ML's WILL be used in an early season if the mystery population numbers are not reduced and it will impact the bow hunters, likely will not raise the hackles of the gun hunters , The general thought I keep hearing is DEC will use this as step one to just over run bow season with firearms. Personally I don't see that happening but I thought there would have been more resistance to passing the Safe Act as well. I know the NZ is a far different animal than the SZ but I hunt the ML season up there. It is the last week of bow and just before the regular firearms. I really don't hear that much shooting but then again opening of regular season sounds very different in those two places. I have said it in other threads and I don't understand why the DEC can't see it. If there needs to be action taken in specific areas you EXPAND opportunity and you avoid this in fighting about squeezing into others' seasons.

Am I able to possess nightvision in the field ?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
The only restriction I have ever been able to find was about lasers and the ability to project a dot onto the target. I know night vision is cool for predator hunting and since it isn't even an aiming mechanism for the gun or bow I would not hesitate for a minute to carry and use it. -
Vince. It has been brought up a couple times in this thread in response to your situation and you haven't responded. Did you follow the State land markers and painted blazes or are you solely relying on the internet maps and such?
-
Grow. You have a more straight on look at the side and one looking down on the top of the teeth?
-
I actually liked how it was years ago. when you got a big game license and bought the bow hunting privilege you got ONE tag, you could take a buck or doe during archery or the tag was good for an antlered deer during regular season. If you did fill it in either, you were done unless you drew a doe permit.
-
the population comes in to heat like a bell curve. "Main" being the largest percentage. I also notice that when I hear different hunters speaking about the "rut" they attribute what they like about it to what is really pre-rut activities. Personally I do not like the main rut as much at the seeking and chasing portions of the pre-rut. too many mature buck locked down with a hot doe. if she is content sleeping then he ain't budging..lol
-
no problem. Good luck!!
-
then you have two tags. an either sex and an antlerless only. they are BOTH valid tags for the 14 day season.
-
so you only bought a ML license (privilege) ?
-
And it didn't take long for "that attitude" to pop out.
-
what does the top of the tag say?

in general (specific lands may have more strict rules) you can leave a stand on state land as long as no trimming and not attachment to the trees that damage (screw in steps) there is required information that needs to be on it and that is covered in the regulations. As far as someone getting in it, I can't see anything that would stop them, just like could happen on private land. I would bet that about any guy in it would get out if you showed up but that about screws up a hunt.
