  1. Not ego Dave, I was brought up to call a spade a spade and not to compromise on integrity, be able to admit when you are wrong and be thankful for what you have. I guess it is just different ways we were brought up. Not harm or ego in that...just different.
  2. Steve, while it is a cost of doing business it is passed on to the consumer. I would not have known about this outfit if they had not posted here. I am actually thinking about a predator hunt in the future now. I don't see the harm and if people hadn't got their hackle up from a high fence aspect it wouldn't have taken up so much space. I would like them to be---here is what we offer....here is our website and then answer any questions members would have though. bunch of multiple threads are NOT needed. my 2 cents
  3. Harmony....wow...ok...wow. I mean, Thanks Dave for your keen and thoughtful insight. I will strive to better myself and be kind to each fellow traveler though this life. Has anyone seen any butterflies?
  4. It is ok to bash someone for supporting somthing like making a crossbow 'legal" but don't tell anyone about their illegal activity. Try to go the right way and build support and get the law changed =ok to bash break the law ans don't try to get it changed= not ok to bash. hmmmmmm.
  5. Welcome Sam. Yo will never go wrong with a Z...as long as it fits you and feels right. a good fit+ practice =confidence in you ability and that will turn into good shots when the moment is there. If that is the only bow you have handled I would try as many as you can before buying. There may be one you like better, but if that is what you want then have at it...and enjoy Good luck
  6. I knew exactly what our resident engineer would be looking for..lol. It does make perfect sense. I see the point in NOT growing tonnage and spending money that is not consumed. And in the same regard, like happened at our camp, the plots are small becasue I only have the log landing areas to plant and they got hammered to the point that the clover is barely coming up this year. There are more deer eating there than the crop can support, so every crop will be an annual becasue it won't last to next year
  7. Really Dave my point wasn't that. I really want to know what not to do you someones delicated feelings don't get hurt. .SO from your stand point look at pictures, don't disagree with anyone and never address illegal activity? Is that your point?
  8. For the engineer in some....what is the annual tonnage a deer consumes? if we estimate the herd size that are in the area or that we are trying to hold and use some of the info I have seen for different crop types...would that give us a "minimum" to start from. if over feeding takes place they could be added to...right? I think it better to start small and work up just from a cash invested stance. If you guys had a lot like Doc is talking about in the 25 acre size. What would you plant and why?' Not having my hands in the food plots for very long at all I wonder if mixes with different crop maturing times and a mix of annual and perrinials?
  9. What a difference!! looks great. I have a 22 that I want to do also but never really knew anyone that cold blued. What product did you use? any tips
  10. Wow. no need to get your panties in a bunch. It was a real question. I was not bussting your chops. I was asking how illegal is illegal enough to address. Seemed like a simple question. Is a violation not enough to report but anything that is a misdemeanor/felony is? As far as the members getting torn up for pictures. I would really like to see those threads. andy chance you could point to them or give some keey workds so I could see those specific posts you mention. I don't remember reading them and would like to.
  11. one note. i don't care what they say the cutting plates and blades are NOT stainless. they are carbon and just have to be oiled so they don't rust. the rest of mine was stainless. and weighs in around 70 pounds
  12. I bought one of these last year and the thing is built like a tank and I pushed 3" frozen cubes of venison in it and it didn't even grunt. I had some shipping issues as some may remember but it was Fed Ex's fault and not the grinders. If you are in the market jump because these do not last long. http://www.amazon.com/Commercial-Electric-Grinder-Sausage-Stuffer/dp/B002HJBMTA/ref=pd_sim_hg_2
  13. I can hear your arteries hardening all the way in Rochester.
  14. Hoffmans= Zweigles is where it is at!! Just kidding. Grew up eating Hoffman's Haven't had one in years.
  15. maybe a basket with bubble bath and aroma therapy would help too. Just for the ones with sensative skin and a$$es.
  16. The first bow I bought , that was the instruction given me in that pro shop and I have done it ever since. I guess if you shoot all winter you can't and I don't know if it is even suggested by the manufacturers. I was alson told to never store a firearm without releasing the tension on the firing pin spring.
  17. In my hard case with the limb tension backed almost all the way off.
  18. They speak for their members (and probably not all of them) not the bowhunting community. what is their membership and how many licensed bowhunters are in the state? They may be doing some good but hteir opposition to inclusion of crossbows is enough of a show stopper for me NOT to become a member.
  19. why would they do that? I think the dirty laundry should be identified and handled not folded up and put back in the drawer
  20. I have utilized the monitor cages that really show us how hard they are using the food sources. We try to utilized shaped plots that allow more "corners" the deer seem to favor these and more likely to head there during daylight. Aaany that I have been involved in are a crap shoot. Idealy we like to have left overs in the spring. but if the mast crops really fail I would anticipate seeing them not make it. If you are in apple country it might very well be one of those years. I am hearing reports of areas expecting 75% crop loss for apples.
  21. G-man. Any deer I have shot with my .06 has never had a .30 caliber exit hole...lol. Usually the -06 is at least the size of a tennis ball and many times it is larger if I get into a shoulder. I just put more focus on how the particular bullet will react when in there than the size of it. I think proper bullet selection is one of the most overlooked factors
  22. So just how far does your "I could care less" go? What level of illegal does someone have to reach before you do care what is done on their own property?
  23. awesome looking Wolf. I have never seen a Porky mounted. the ones I see usually are much ....well....flatter. lol.
