  1. two people would know....you and the other guy who falls in the hole after they paw asn eat the dirt out...lol
  2. Oh me too. I am a serial cell phone abuser...lol. A lot of people just don't know the rules and I don't mean just hunting rules. as bad as that is imagine these poor non hunters that feed the deer to see them out there dining room window. then bam they are breaking the law because it changed. Even if we had the written laws in front of us , good luck understanding them. Try reading the laws to see if your 17yo can shoot your hand gun at the range. well they can if they do this or that but only if you have done this or the other and only if it is at an incorporated range on monday wednesday and friday in a month that ends in an R. I think the OP took a little offense to being called on the mineral block whether he knew or not. He says he didn't and that is good enough for me. I don't think he responded well and given his past circumstances I can understand his being teste. He cam across pretty offensive to me in PM and then we actually discussed it and he seems like a decent guy. Let's fac eit....Hunters are an emotional bunch. No matter what we say or how we type it someone is going to get a case of burn a$$.
  3. That looks like beautiful country to do the predator/pig hunt. I would love to come across a mountain lion or bobcat in a hunt like that. what is the best time of year for this hunting...taking into consideration I am from NY and melt above 90 degrees...lol
  4. I have to disagree with you on this. I think thuning our backs on those that break the rules is just one step below doing it ourselves. It really is a "where do you draw the line" thing. is it ok to know someone shot a deer out of season and not say anything? how about over limits? What do you call someone on or do you just let anyone get a free pass? Just wondering? To be honest I don't have a huge moral upset on the feeding out of season. I know there are tons of non hunters that do it and even during the season. I have reported 2 cases and NO DEC response. so hey...if they don't care shoudl I? I don't know....maybe I shouldn't care. Just seems weird to me some of the responses on this thread. everything from it is illegal to no biggie. But it seem funny that someon could take a who cares view of this but thinks the introduction of crossbows would cause the end of the world. or this is no biggie but you are a tool if you shoot an immature deer. ---Oh high fence---that ian't fair chase......head down on a salt block....no biggie. I guess fo me it is ---if it is illegal is is not good and you should be called on it. ----if it is legal and your choice...have at it and enjoy yourself.
  5. the predator and pig combo sounds like a very interesting hunt.
  6. Must not be too big of a joke. These places seem to be doing quite well. While it isn't for me I can see where some hunters might use these services.
  7. How much do you get for a chipmunk fur in prime?...lol
  8. I am stuck with Lowes for most now. I was a loyal Chase Pitkin until they closed. I liked their service and products much better. I don't mind paying more for lumber if the quality is their. WNY.....check out Matthews and Fields in Henrietta when you want the lumber. If you are doing PT decking they have doubble kiln dried stuff. it does NOT shrink. THe gaps on my deck are unchanged and I put it on in 97
  9. One guy at work brought in pics in Mid April of a buck in his back yard that had not dropped the horns yet. They came off in the third week but as of mid april still on.
  10. There Raisin Bran is the best. . frozen cookie squares you bake yourself. Wasabi nut and fruit trail mix.
  11. Those are beautiful guns. I have always anted one.
  12. Probably was jumping to conclusions in front of a camera with a ladder stand in the near background. How on earth could someone make that mistake. and FYI if it was out for livestock and you shot a deer off it it still is a ticketable offense as baiting.
  13. Doc, You are discounting others view because of you one good experience but find fault with others poor view of NYB because of their experience. See any flaw there?
  14. Ballistic tips...no. THe Flex tips ...yes. and any pointed bullet is a no no in tubular mags not just ballistic tips.
  15. I bought this because it came with a barrel I just picked up. I don't need it since I already have one. Excellent condition. a few very minor marrs. mainly around the swivel stud from the sling. They are $235 out of TC's custom shop. THis is the BUTT Stock only. Forearms available at link below. Multiple site posting I am in Rochester and can do FTF for $100. Shipping is extra if you want it shipped. Would also so interested in Lee Reloading dies for 223 Rem and 223 brass as part of a trade if that is of interest. Will post actuall pics tomorrow of the stock. http://www.tcarms.com/customShop/stock_encore_rifle.php It is pattern #7543. Black and Brown Laminate
  16. Just so I make sure I don[t step on anyones toes or hurt any feelings......at what point is is proper to openly discuss illegal activities? Is it on the picture post of the 4th 5th or 6th buck of the season? Baiting can't be discussed so how about taken out of season? is that one ok? How about a crossbow during archery? well nevermind that one...might be a moot point anyway. WTH we turned into a bunch of freaking pu$$ies.
  17. to add to Elmo's post. I would really do two things. One has been touched on and that is to handle as many guns and type of guns that you can. Second I would sit down and list what you want from the gun. How far do you anticipate shooting. how much will you be shooting. what $$$ factors are there for the gun priuchase and the ammo purchases. Are you willing to buy used or is New your pick. will you be trying optics or iron sights. Wat type of hunting do you think you may be doing? alot of walking? stand hunting?FIelds? thick brush on the land you plan on hunting? Any questions you can think of. The answers will help form your pick or lead to more questions. next for my 2 cents on the caliber. I started rifle hunting with the 30-06 because it is what my father used. If I had a child hunting I would probably not go that route anymore. I would also agree with Elmo I think. .308 win. easy to find ammo, wide range of bullets. surpluss FMJ can be had at reasonable price for plinking. moderate recoil.
  18. Mossberg 350K I have seen it from the private side. most of those are in projects that have some public funding or in states where the govt will hold them hostage in the permitting/developement process. I will have to google it but I think even Walmart has had their arm twisted on a few occassions and went the PLA route. It is welfare and extortion. plain and simple.
  19. On Projet Labor Agreement jobs....where the Govt that was elected by the union vote says it has to be. More welfare!!
  20. There are many out there that do NOT know it is illegal. I am always surprised at the number that asume the laws have not changed from year to year. It used to be legal to do it in the off season. it isn't anymore. If I was doing something that wasn't legal and didn't know the difference I would hope someone would tell me.
  21. G2---what model slick trick?
  22. Woodsman---after I get these, if you end up shooting the Montecs and want a 125 to try let me know. Somethime even though they are heavier they may fly better with your set up.
