  1. Hey if woodsman20 doesn't want these from the other thread i just gave him a heads up on them.....If he passes I will take them. Good for practice if nothing else. I can probably meet you face to face to grab them.
  2. Check out nyslowhand classified ad for them. I would grab these but I am shooting the 100's----good deal.
  3. I don't have any history with them. But if you want to throw another in the mix to evaluate check out the G5 Montec. cut on contact. I had no planing issues and the fright was identical to my Field tips. they are cut on contact and the to touch up/ sharpen them it is on a flat stone which may be nice if you are remote on the Elk hunt.
  4. Wiz....Isn't it GREAT that karma is a biotch!!!
  5. I think it is all about population control and let's face it. Bow hunter DON'T get it done. It is the how it works. the bow is more difficult than gun hunting because of the restrictions in the equipment. That is why they are toying aruond with the early ML in the areas of the SZ that need more control. They removed the no hunting Sunday out here. That basically doubled the season for the average Joe. Put the opener on a Sat to put more people in the woods on the opener to increase take. I think if they reduced the age like you mention it would help too. I am not a hige fan of these special season gimmicks. I learned in regular season going with my Father before I could even hunt. I think once you hit 16 you should be in the regular mix. if they lower gun to 12 then let the young kids have their couple days. BUT hammer any adult with them that is found to be doing the harvesting. We all know that is the motivation of some folks. Have the kid with them but they still do the taking.
  6. Where is that? I was sure there was a distance out requirement before you needed one.
  7. All, Got this email and though I would post it. I belong to this club and besides being a worthy cause it is a good opportunity to check out a new club if you are toying with joining any. This is open to everyone even non-members. Loaner guns available and also a nice way to take a gun out for a test drive. Rochester Brooks Gun Club Members: Just a reminder that the club is hosting a Cancer Charity Event, Saturday morning, June 9th. This is a FUN 75 target sporting clays events - open to anyone (not just club members). Co-sponsored by Shoot for a Cure, we'll have a trailer full of loaner guns and the ammunition is provided by Fiocchi. Lunch is included. Here's a link to the registration form. http://www.rochesterbrooks.org/pdfs/NY12FLYER.pdf
  8. I sure hate more laws and regulaions but I could get behind and argument that requires a stoe selling agricultural foods to post the regulation about not seeding deer/ ducks and anything wlse that applies
  9. So to hear that Virgil . I think a lot of that is coming down the road.
  10. The difference between Sticky and Palmer's is Palmers DOES NOT own their building. the Authority owns Palmers Building and since the Authority built it it should be prevailing rate (the way current regulations are)
  11. I have seen clubs form 15 a year to much higher. I think Rochester Brooks is around $200 a year. usually the more facilities the higher the costs. look around and see what fits your needs. if you just want a rifle bench and that is it it may be cheaper....If you want full shotgun facilities, club house, pistol and gun bays it will usually run you more. throw in sporting clays fields and hunting property and it goes up higher. Look around. I think it is worth it and I am enjoying getting to know some new folks.
  12. My first report was on November 1st 2011. Over a 6 month response time. I hope the LEO's don't get spread that thin.
  13. Doc, You have triggered another thought in my head (yup that makes 2 for 2012) ....I know people that do NOT hunt that feed deer. They hae no game book to read and I know the whole "ignorrance of the law" thing...but how does John Q Public find this out. Go to al lot of water access areas and how many folks wonder down and feed old bread to ducks? The people I know that were feeding and not hunters had no idea it was illegal. THey wandered in and picked the stuff up and thought it was helping and really cool to watch the deer every night.
  14. After all season last all year...right?......opppps my mistake.
  15. Dave, DO you know if in those two cases there were other charges or complaints? I have reported twice and nothing. I can look out the back window at work and see the wooden and barrel feeder there. Nothing has been done there.
  16. Can't just pin the State with the prevailing wage laws. ....The Fed's have theirs too.
  17. Basically the whole prevailing rate issue is a scam to keep the unions with what little life there is in them. It is Govt waste at it's best. It is socialism. Mandate the wages paid on a project so the unions can compete.
  18. I like the ribs and chicken at Sticky Lips better. . Sides are great and the parking doensn't suck like it does at the Dino.
