  1. I would encourage you not to put a permenant stand in a tree. I think it was mentioned, but the movement of a tree will just tear it apart. Not to mention you can kill the tree depending how many nails and screws you put in. If you are going to build a box blind, due so with 4 pillars cemented into the ground.
  2. Those who want to be unethical, will alwasy be unethical. You don't need a special way to do it. Regardless if it looks like dirt or not, those who have a moral standard woudn't use it.....and those who don't have a moral standard would use it even if it had a neon sign saying illegal. It has nothing to do with the product and everythign to do with the person buying it.
  3. uhh....read my very next sentence! lol. I said that the population has increased. Are you off your meds again?
  4. You are right, change is constant, in the human world. For a deer though, nothing changes. A deer has been a deer for hundreds if not thousands of years. Despite all the gimicks in the world to hunt them better, i believe there is actually a higher population of deer today, than in the past when our granddads would throw on their red plaid wool hunting outfit, light up a cig or cigar, sit in a home made "tree stand" made from a pallet and shoot that first 4-point that would walk by. lol. Now Granddad has a carbon technology, scent filtered real tree camo hunting suit, a tree fort equipped with a heater and a TV, 5 grunt calls, rattling horns, doe piss, a gps, cell phone app to tell him when the dear will be at their peak, etc......AND HE SHOOTS THE SAME 4-POINT that walks by....lmao You have got to love the fact that "marketing" as Belo mentioned sucks our money out of our pockets the way it does. Someone is doing a damn good job at that.
  5. Thats my general feeling. Ozone (O3) is not good for you to breath. There were, not to many years back, a bunch of "home health" machines like air filters that emitted Ozone. They have sense been yanked and have lots of law suits. Im not sure, even in a tree stand, if you hunt enough hours I would want to be breathing that. I wasn't sure what peoples experiences were though. Sounds like the latest knick knack to give people falsely inflated confidence.
  6. What do you use to shoot them? Do you just pull out your arrow with your deer broadhead? or do you carry an arrow specifically for a turkey?
  7. ALL the hunting shows are pimping the heck out of this product. Is this because it works, or because the company has a lot of money to sponsor all the shows. I have seen (and watched dissapear) dozens of "ozone" type products in the past (not neccessarily all hunting, but nonetheless, ozone producing products). At the end of the day, they have never done what is advertised and have faded into oblivion. So, I am leaning towards BS on this product (BTW, the "B" is for Bull and the "G" is for Good. you can fill in the rest). Any opinions out there? The hardest thing about products like these is it is impossible to prove one way or another. It is all based in opinion, not facts. Curious what people are seeing.
  8. .....and let the idiots flood the woods now! I can already see the people flinging arrows during bow season 100+ yards at deer who couldn't shoot a gun that far. Ugh! I get the special use needs for people who want to bow hunt and can't draw a standad bow, but that is NOT who is going to be the vast majority of who buys a cross-bow. Our once quiet unpressured season is all gonna change now!!!
  9. How did you guess? Lol
  10. Not getting into a scoring debate, not he point of the thread, but that one on the left doesn't look close to 200". Maybe just the angle I guess.
  11. lol. oh boy. going down that road huh?
  12. That is my argument with my brother-in-law every year leading up to opening day. He is addicted to what he deems "character." I call it ugly. lol. He would probably even pull the trigger on the non-typical even if it were smaller. Me, Typical all the way. I love symetry.
  13. 2 bucks are in front of you. 1 is a Typical and 1 is a Non-Typical. They score exactly the same. Assuming all shooting conditions are exactly the same, which do you shoot and why? Just curious if people like "unique" or "symetrical"
  14. The deer is going to cross the road whether you are hunting him or not! You must not drive around our NYS roads very much during the rut. It is a smorgesboard of carcassas.
  15. definitely from last year because I have seen that video floating around several times now from last year.
  16. My largest Northern to date. 44" and pushing 30lbs. There is a reason why they call these monsters a "1,000 cast fish."
  17. You are paying tax anyway if you go to the store. That's what it was in reference to. People were complaining about the selection and size of the store. But, in fact, the size of the store is irrelevant because you can shop online at EVERY item they have and make it available at that store. And LEGALLY (but who actually reports in anyway), you are supposed to claim that tax amount when you file each year......there is no such thing as "no tax."
  18. the more important thing isn't what it is zeroed at, it is knowing where your gun shoots at all possible distances you will be shooting. It makes no difference if you sight your gun in at 50, 100, 300, whatever. To each their own. You are going to get a different opinion from everyone you ask. Just know where it hits at all those distances and you will be succesful.
  19. In response to a couple comments, and perhaps what everyone is overlooking......who cares what the actual store has!! Shop online at cabelas.com for their entire inventory! They ship it to the store for free and you pick it up. I couldn't honestly care less how big the store is or what their selection / pricing is like. I order from cabelas all the time and this will save me a crap ton of money on shipping costs alone! And yes, good bye Gander Mountain. The only reason they have 10 customers left is because there is no other choice. I have had so many bad experiences with that place (not to mention what a pain in the @#@$ that location is tryign to get in and out of).
  20. I know a lot of the retailers like Cabellas, Bass Pro, Gander Mountain, etc. offer the classes as well. Its a place most people don't check. I believe if they sell liscenses, it is a good sign they offer courses.
  21. I think he is done growing already. He will just be a 26" wide 90" gross scoring deer
  22. I live in Erie County (where UB is located). I have regular trail camera pictures of 160" + deer (look through some of my posts). Not much public land (a few little nooks and crannies). Time to start making friends with people to get access to private property. Look in the record books. Erie County may have the BEST whitetail hunting (if you can get access) on the entire Eastern seaboard. It the hidden gem of the deer hunting world. and no, I won't be your friend, so don't ask about hunting my property...lmao
  23. definitely not a beaver. it doesn't have the flat tail.
  24. Looks like an Opposum "shape" with the way the head is. A bit too brown. Someone mentioned it looks like a hog already, which it does, minus the tail.
