Def agree with the slow down. I too have a mountain to climb. Under armour base with merino 2nd layer. If super cold I'll wear my jacket, if not I pack it in. Also, if super cold I wear a skull cap type hat, and switch to my warm one once on stand for a bit. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Gonna head out for some swamp donkeys. Corn is being cut now and farmer would love to see a crop eater dead. Begin the slick head mission.... Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Best bet is 308. Plenty of great deer ammo out there but advantage over 6.5 is for Yotes as There will also be plenty of options that are easy on the fur Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

The ONLY way i do jerky is with ground LEAN ( not pork fat added ) and the gun. Nobody complains and it sure is great. Like it tough, leave it in dehydrator longer. Done are the days of slicing and marinating and making a mess of the oven, or filling the house with jerky stank. If you use any added fat your jerky will taste awful. I just mix in some spices, shoot out a pile of strips on the dehydrator and let er rip. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Got dad heading up the street tonight since I just saw the combine heading out to cut... Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Perfect time to hunt !! I've seen them circle the combine and stay in the standing down to the last cut. They aren't overly spooked coming out either, so you setup in the right spot and they may just walk by you. My favorite is the night after though, as the deer still have the mindset they are hidden when in the field. Got my buck 2nd day after corn was cut, typically mature deer won't make that mistake but it can happen. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

I was raised on the deer drive. Def not my first choice but late gun I don't mind a slow walk. Love filling dmps and getting some exercise. I DO NOT push my main spots. Usually just the local farms that have already had pressure. I will say this though, they work. Sometimes it's the only way you can get that mature nocturnal buck on his feet for a shot, or the pile of does waiting for dusk to come out and feed. If I never did a drive again I wouldn't be dissapointed but years like this where my dad only has 1 doe and we rely on meat, I'm going through the thickets to increase his odds !
