  1. Flashlight/laser combo ? Railmaster pro ?
  2. Kinda what I was figuring. Rough winters seem to produce more yotes with calls.... I believe when finding food is hard they like the call, with no snow and moderate temps I don't think they care too much about a screaming rabbit when they already have full belly's. Ah well, I'll hopefully get a few hunts in before season ends. New house, 6mo old, 2 year old and a wife seem to consume my hunting hours nowadays....
  3. Anybody been out ? What are you seeing ? I unfortunately have had an enormous honey do list on top of having " daddy duty " and haven't been out in a few weeks. Hoping to free up a couple nights before seasons over ! Also hoping we get some more snow on the ground !!!
  4. Did a similar tow with a gas Chevy...except it was stuck in one snow bank with the truck and another bank with the trailer.... Thought I was going to break something but 4low did the trick....driver couldn't believe it, neither could I !
  5. Lot of good lookin hooters !
  6. I'll do the owl to " put them to bed" the night before a hunt. I usually try to be noisy around 1hr before dusk since they usually don't go to far. I have practiced a bunch and almost perfected the voice version... As far as crow, its my go to call after sun up for locating, also pretty good with the voice but not close on volume of the Reed call. If that doesn't get any response I start yelping.
  7. Looking for a rifled, cantaliever barrel for 12 ga super mag 11-87. If it was already factory camo that's a plus. Blue is fine.
  8. Don't get crazy on the twist... Real research will show you your paying big bucks to improve at ranges you will prob never shoot. No matter where I am, my 1-9 @16" will group every time ( if I do my part ) . ive shot it out to 400ish with no issues. I do have a bull barrel which I found to really help with follow ups and general steadiness. Spend some money on optics and a trigger. For what it's worth, standard issue m16 with peep sights are solid to 500yrds. Every marine must shoot that yardage to even earn the eagle, globe and anchor. Trust me, you do that with peep sights and you will believe in that platform forever!
  9. Rem 870 express mag. 3"... Still shoot the 3" too. Shoulder loves me !
  10. Remington is coming out with a v3. Same gas design as versamax but only 3", not 3 1/2". It is the guts of a vmax and should cycle anything you put in it. Msrp in your budget. Look for it soon on the shelf
  11. There's a nice video on boyds website to find your specific length. If I could make the web work I'd post the link, but for now go to boyds and take a peek. I agree to go 1" short so during late season when your bundled up u can go straight and during warmer weather you can buy a 1" pad.
  12. Great sight. Can't beat it... 2 moa I assume ? Have one on my slug gun, love it. Glws
  13. Maybe I should mention that where I used to live there were multiple packs within a couple hundred yards. What I learned is they were territorial and my stand was the half way point between two deep and long reviens. I learned that if I heard them start to howl early evening that meant they were out of the den or packed up to go hunt. I would always give them time to split up and I would do some basic vocals, if they answered I would stay quiet and that would work, they would come investigate immediately. If I got answers back, but nothing came in I would do some challenge calls, wait and if they answered I would wait again... That worked too, and if it didn't I would just let the pup in distress go on full volume and use the foxpitch feature after a bit. If that didn't work I would pack up and head in. I barely had many kills with rabbit or bird distress. I think after a kill or two they wised up. It really seemed like they were more in the mood to fight than hunt, so I basically played each pack against the other.
  14. Well, I have to assume I'm in the 15-20ish range for just dogs with e-calling and prob another 6 or 7ish? during deer season. Most dogs shot at night under the moon with no lights and solo hunting. FoxPro shockwave with the fox jack.
  15. R u flirting ? [emoji7] anyways...So do I. I look like a fool but I'm always a warm fool !
  16. Wind x2... Most important part. But as mentioned not fullpoof. To protect yourself from that and downwind, the more open you can be the better. Unless your going with the shotgun try and get the call as far from you as the remote will let you, during the day. I'll set mine 60-70yrds away in a field. At night, keep it close because if your scanning with a light you may not catch eyes. Other than that call as little as possible, and if hunting the same set different days try and mix up your calls.... They are smart, and you will teach them, quick
  17. It was just awesome to see 2 hit the call. Literally, hit the call
  18. Went out to some new dirt last sat with a guy I work with. Had an awesome hunt ! Called in 3 reds, quickly and 2 of them actually smashed into the fox pro ! I was not on the gun for the first but was able to get a shot on the second and the third never came within range of us... But it was awesome. I've had yotes and fox come right to the call before but never had them actually hit it so hard they knock it over, or leave teeth marks in my foxjack !
  19. Well I wouldn't say too small, since a .22 can do the task, but if you were trying to save $$ and use what you have it should do. I still say go for the gusto and get an AR, because you may never be able to buy it again...maybe
  20. Well, maybe I'll be able to tell you in a couple weeks. But the 17 mag in general is def capable of doing work on a song dog, and chucks for sure. I hear it's a 500 yrd gun all day long. I usually shoot dogs >100 and chucks out to 300ish anyways
  21. I'd love to find out. Its on my to get list ! Supposedly really good. I've been after a semi auto 17 for a long time but nobody seemed to be able to make the rimfire work well, until now. Do some research on it. Pretty interesting with the delayed blow back setup. I'll be at a couple gun shows within the next month, hoping to find one at a nice price, ( and i have the boyds stock already picked out ) that is if I don't walk by a nice priced ar10 first...lol
