  1. U obviously recommend ? Easy on and off ? Fit in a pack ?
  2. Been a long time..... 58°. overcast. Wind swirling. Who cares ! I'm in the stand !!! Got a buddy in my primo hotspot hoping he scores today. He is being deployed this week but wanted to get 1 day in. He already passed on a basket 6. Hoping a big boy comes his way
  3. Well, he wont be using it for geese, prob ever and i am the one telling him to go for the 3.5. Half the reason for the semi is to reduce the felt recoil on the old timers shoulders... but it chambers 2 3/4 so he can just shoot them! Besides, i know a 2 3/4 or 3 will do the job on any tom.... but i like the big booom . I agree with everybody that its prob overkill, i just liked him having the option. He currently uses a 3.5 single shot 10ga for turkey, so through the semi a 3.5 should be a bit nicer on kick. Ill check back next weekend and let you know how his shoulder feels
  4. When they start making a 3.5 slug, ill be trading in my 870.....
  5. Going with an 1187 super mag. In camo. Getting a smoking deal from Red Barn guns in franklinville. Btw, i highly recommend the ride to red barn. Owner is extremely knowledgeable and has great prices for a back yard gun shop, and will spend the time chatting with you.
  6. Nothin yet.... im beginning to doubt his trapping skills. There is so much sign/ movement just nothing in a trap yet. Either way, the father son team is very happy and love the property and we all have high hopes.
  7. Wow, i just re-read your post... 70 yrds!!?!?! I dont think my father will be able to see a red head that far...lol. but u really think that superfull choke does that good of a job?
  8. Well the mossberg definately felt the best in MY hands but i need to get pops out to handle a few. I was hoping there wasnt gonna be a get this , no dont get this thread....the stoger, if i recall was a close second. Its christmas time and i didnt feel like playing with guns that wont be for me!
  9. Ditto on the smart phone apps. I use actinnature app. from android market. App is free. Works on iphone too. Will work without cell service, can mark multiple locations and allow labeling, and gives an accurate arrow of which way you are facing ( very helpful). And if your pals have it, you can see their location in real time.
  10. U got it, just opposite.... i keep mine inside my jacket on the strap, against my body so they stay warm. when i pull em out they are warm, and barely ever get fogged.
  11. My father has been in the market for an 1100 or 1187 for some time. He placed the research part on me and after handling a few other than remingtons im kind of in a pickle. So, im looking for a bit of advice. He will be using it for turkey and trap ( backyard trap) and loves the ribbed barrels with two beads for sights. He is not stuck on a rem, just familiar with them. So, basically im looking to see who offers a fairly dependable base model semi 12ga that can do 3 1/2's. Used is an option but id rather not go on a goose chase trying to find one. All opinions appreciated!
  12. Well, we went back and forth for a bit, but he admitted that he made a mistake. He told me he could either try and switch them, give me a free mount next year or give me the labor back.... i took the money ( obviously). Im happy with the outcome and im glad he admitted his mistakes. Now ill put that towards an 1100/1187 for the ole man for christmas. I think he will be happy too. !
  13. Bout to load the heads up and go show the guy his mistake. I have plenty of pics to prove im right.... he seems to be willing to make a deal if he screwed up, we shall see!
  14. I recently gave permission to a father son trapping team to trap at my property. My neighbor vouched for them and after meeting them im more than happy to let them do their thing. I have never let anybody but family step foot in my woods but i want dead coyotes and i have been doing a poor job of it. The son is prob 10 years old and was beyond excited, especially when he saw some fresh weasel tracks. I will hopefully be posting some pics of some successful sets.
  15. 18 does later.... i climbed down.... till next year !!
  16. Got out early... so thankful to be in the stand for the close....beats bein at work!!!
  17. I think they are on my old phone, and the memory card is bad
  18. Well, i searched and searched but cant find the pic i got 2 yrs ago. It was a white and black squirrel. When it first came hopping in i thought it was a skunk. He was equally white as he was black. As i recall i think all his legs were white and most of his tail... awesome looking animal.
  19. If i had the sheds, i would shoot... but that might get sticky if the good ole dec showed up.... hmmm what do u suppose happens then?! I sure would be disappointed to kill a mature buck that had shed though
  20. Def have arrowed many in my day, never had one jump...
