  1. Thanks guys! I like the one with the picture Dave!
  2. I really liked the flexible plastic piece that goes over the skull plate. It was pre cut and sort of adjustable to horn size. Thanks guys.
  3. Yup, hope he reads the posts, from all of us.
  4. Here is a pict of the horns I just mounted. Pretty cool kit from Cabelas, easy to do. Got a call from my Nephew yesterday, an elk and caribou mount may be ending up in my cabin next weekend. A friends relative passed away and they have no place for these two mounts. The wall in the new addition at the cabin is probably 16" tall they will look great there. I'll post picts if it all comes about.
  5. Second, if you hit low (stomach) you need to back out at least 6 hrs. Bring a friend along to help track if possible. (Really no indication where he hit this deer) If all else fails call deer search and they will find it. You have to exhaust every option to find a wounded deer.
  6. After reading this post again I can say I have to agree with Wolly and Doc. Here is a kid so excited he kind of loses himself in the moment. Look at how excited he was to have that deer in his sights. Now the pin mistake, hate to say, happens to everyone. He does need and education on ethics "So what " doesn't cut it for me. With all that was said I don't understand how a deer spurting blood 6 feet up a tree couldn't be found. I guess a bit of exaggeration there. I think the kid needed a bit of help on the hunt, don't you think.
  7. Don't have one but been meaning to tell you I really like your new picture, I mean that.
  8. It's no wonder with returns like that they make it so easy to abuse tags, buck or doe.
  9. Those people are called "killers" not hunters. I have been racking my brain trying to come up with a way that you get a doe permit after the second week of the season on a rewards program. This also ties in with reporting a buck that you shoot on "your" own buck tag. keeps people from hunting bucks on someone else's tag, maybe a percentage of doe permits are done this way. Just thinking out loud, I'm sure you can shoot a million holes in it, just thought I'd share because we all complain big time about tag abuse.
  10. So your saying a few (3-4) friends had 15 tags. How many did they fill?
  11. Picture looks fine, nice deer! Good luck selling it, any serious deer hunter looking for a place would be crazy to pass this up, if the price is right.
  12. All good advice, the neighbor security is the best!
  13. That's pretty much right by me, 20 minutes away. Great hunting- nice place. I would guess 70 grand sounds right. Place needs water, electric and finishing.
  14. Nice picts, I feel right at home!
  15. It probably would be a good idea to put the animal down ASAP. Just a thought but didn't CWD spread for farm raised deer??
  16. Is this the Austrees website? Don't know about the apple but my brother planted some of their species and boy did they grow. 5-7 ft per year.
  17. Gun season should be a week shorter and tack it on to muzzleloader/Bow.
  18. Sorry, this is what I read in NYON. Maybe you should let them know how you feel. Wasn't trying to make anything look bad, the situation was bad enough.
  19. I'd hunt with Craig Morgan, and strum a couple of chords too!
  20. The ref sucked, OMG. The Rangers kicked ass! Next the Stanley cup!!!!! NHL let's not do this this for ratings.
  21. Wow read the story about the guys up in St. Lawrence northern zone? Last hour on muzzleloader and a guy shoots another tracking a deer. Same thing happened in Vermont and the shooter takes his life. Very sad situations, wonder if they were wearing BO?
