  1. Just emailed my brother-in-law he works at the campus and is a big hunter. He will flip at this!
  2. Good luck finding a site where nobody disagrees, ever lol. While I dont agree with erussell on this one, questioning things is not a bad thing and is part of life. WNY, I agree with questioning being a part of life, however I don't see a question mark at the end of his statement. Which leads me and others to believe that he's just envoking his opinion, which is wrong. Usually comments like that lead me to believe that the person making them is ignorant or jealous...or both!! My buddy, who took the pic, happened to be doing some scouting when he saw the bucks rack sticking up over the soybeans as he was bedded in them. When he got a little to close the buck jumped up and ran off and that's when he snapped the pic with his cell phone. He's one of a handful of good bucks in the area and I hope I can get a crack at him next season. Thanks to those of you that can appreciate this great buck for what he is!! Letimfly, I second that. There are people on here that just love to question everything. How deep do we have to go on a simple picture of a great buck or wether that little boy who got shot was hunting or not. It's insane, it's a great site hang around and just use your ignore button now and then!
  3. I used to video years ago. I took video from 1990 and up. Put it all together in Final Cut pro and made a 1.5 movie. It was pretty cool but took a hell of a long time. These days I have enough to do in the tree stand let alone try to video. I do have to say some of the home grown stuff is real good. It's fun don't get me wrong but you better be a good shot!
  4. Thank you. A little girl was killed a few years back by a hunter (doing some stupid things) and they set up a fund raiser and it really helped the family. It's rough this time of year, any amount helps.
  5. Why would you put your kid in one of the most dangerous hunting situations. Driving deer is probably the worst way to hunt. I think back years ago when it was more popular how many guys we went out with and close calls that happened. My kids come in the woods at times when pressure is low, period. If they need support is there a foundation set up we can send to?
  6. It's amazing he almost made another year. A true king in any state! Just guessing by the looks of the bullet hole(if it's a bullet hole) but it's a bit high in the back, looks to be from a tree stand. He must of looked awesome in the woods.
  7. He outsmarted you, didn't he! It was just a joke lighten up!
  8. Why do I think what happened? Me not making a good shot on the deer or the slug only penetrating the ground a couple of inches? As far as the shot goes, 100% my fault, I aimed a little too low and the deer's body was moving up as I pulled the trigger. As for the round only hitting meat and only going into the ground 2 inches from 60 yards away? I dont know, and dont really care, Ill be switching slugs. Ive had too many bad experiences with these ones. Stop blaming the slugs and practice more! lol
  9. They are in the second rut, go with the estrous, some big big bucks killed this week chasing does.
  10. Just got off the phone with my neighbor to the North. He watched a big buck breed a doe last Saturday but had no shot. Saw them again on Sunday and hit the deer but did not find it. Thinks he grazed the leg. Hope they keep it up into the weekend.
  11. Zemm, we love the dogs also. That is my job this weekend to bring home the "dogs!" My neighbor shot a bear last weekend, about 250lbs. It was one of the two we have been seeing. He also hit a huge buck Sunday that was breeding a doe. The late rut is in full swing. Hope it's still going on this weekend. GL
  12. How did you happen upon the slug? I have seen paths that slugs make when hitting the ground, was that it?
  13. I'm seeing more and more posts of guys shooting bucks late in the season hot on does. If Charlie A. was right this would be the time for the second rut, may be a good weekend ahead of us boys!
  14. That is weird, never saw something like that before.
  15. WNYBC, I replied on your other thread but my question is what would cause a factory load to do this and I think it's amazing that you found the slug intact. Were these loads from the factory defective?
  16. One thing here I have never heard of was finding the slug after the shot. I could see that happening in a muzzleloader but a factory made load?? What would be the cause of this, has anyone else found slugs after they have shot? I believe the story just can't figure out the cause? Help?
  17. I've been using the copper solids for years in my 12 gauge and for me they are a killing machine, short and long range!
  18. Hearing about alot of bucks chasing does right now!
