    Heard they are going to introduce a bill that would have two weeks of crossbow only Oct 1st -14th. This would kick off the deer season. Oh yea and a 1 buck rule goes into place, 1 buck no matter what season but you can take a doe during archery (crossbow and bow season combined) and one during gun. So crossbow opponents, when that monster 160 class is cruising your property at early season you just going to let you neighbor get him with the crossbow or are you going to join the ranks??????? Hmm... I made this up, really what would you do?

    Couple of towns on the North shore fought the law and won. I live in Huntington and I believe don't need a license to fish.

    Joe, I real good point. You agreed with Steve the other day in the thread about accessing land on L.I. We as a group need to be doing more of this. We are our worst enemy. I wonder what the DEC thinks? Maybe it's up to us the (semi-senior members-ouch) of our group to spread the word. Lay down your arms come together and get something done. We all love to hunt and we should make it a great experience for all (crossbows included!)

    Man, every time I come on to this site it's politics or religion. Yea we have the space for it but what about kicking it out of recent posts? Admin- how about it? I'm here for the hunting end of it, I can go else where for the political and religion end of things.

    I don't know about you guys but I think Robinson may have the first recorded picture of a Mountain Lion in NYS! He's looking right at that deer. Next essay title-How I proved them wrong! Mountain Lions do exist in NYS! wow I'm bored.............

    Actually this forum is turning me off lately. You have to weed through all the political and religion stuff- have at it but I don't need to come to a hunting website to discuss this stuff. I know what you'll say don't read it if you don't like it. So be it. Bang another one taken on opening day! lol

    Yes it is. There was an article in the Times Friday that had him saying, "I'm not against hunting or hunters owning guns" but do they need a 33 round clip to kill a deer?" Just posting what I read.....

    SplitG2, Just found some picts from last spring. The spruce you see is three years old. Most of the seedlings took and are all different sizes. The majority are the size in the picture. Burt

    I would love to see my two neighbors (both can't draw a bow from neck problems) shoot the biggest deer in the area during bow season with a crossbow. Wouldn't bother me one bit. One guy served this country for over 20 years and fought in two wars. Don't you think he deserves the right to crossbow hunt while we bow hunt? Don't we all deserve the right!

    It's been a rough winter, don't kid yourself upon the stress on the deer herd.

    Ar's will do nothing for the sport. The frustrated hunted will become more frustrated and need medication. Soon we will see ads for male hunting disfunction and a new pill will be on the market! lol

    Along with looking for horns to tell what your shooting at, the body structure between a buck and doe is different. A deer 20 yards broadside, I would think most of us would hesitate shooting thinking it was a buck. Body type is different for sure. Hey it happens out there and we try to do our best. Glad the meat didn't go to waste.
