  1. We nailed 2x6's as steps in a tree. Made a little platform and stood in it for the hunt. Crazy! Yeah I lived those days and I'm happy to experience it. That's why camp fires are so important for old stories to be told!
  2. Saw nothing tonight until about 4:45. Had 4 adult doe trot by at 80 yards. Tough shot with open sites and I wasn't going to take it but the last one stoped broadside. Clean miss. Boy is the area 8S loaded with deer.
  3. My Taxi charges $800 for a Deer mount. He does amazing work and I don't mind spending the money. If I ever shot a Bear he would get it, no doubt. Spend the money so you are not disappointed in the end. Congrats on the Bear.
  4. Thanks Guys It will be locked no cap in it.
  5. I'm headed to my lease property in the next county. Driving over with the Muzzy. Of course it will be in a case but is it ok to have powder and slug in the gun without primer? Thanks
  6. I did one in the past, yes 1 and done. I'll pay someone to do it!
  7. I shot a Doe at gun season that was it. I saw so many bucks during bow season. I have to figure out a new approach for tagging one or two. I passed on some nice shooters but probably should of taken one then hunt with crossbow the rest of the season Nov 1 on. Here is the kicker.....I did not see one buck during gun season, not one.
  8. How long was the boiling process?
  9. Had the boys over for the Army Navy game. Turned on the grill at 4 and one of the guys slips out to hunt the last hour of the day. Was hunting for a buck but saw 15 doe come into my corn field 4:55. No buck! He came back and the food was still warm!
  10. My Cadet was at her first Army Navy game. She will stay overnight and head back home tomorrow with her company. Love the traditional uniform they wear. Her Grandfather loved this game and I'm sure he is smiling today in heaven. Teddi on the right.
  11. Not my buck but my neighbors. Both of our fields were in corn this year. Smiths Farm shelled the corn late and left strips up for the deer. There is so much corn in the fields its crazy. So Im hanging with my neighbor today and he says its time to only hunt bucks. Any legal buck is mine. I have to say this guy is like the late season specialist on getting it done. So he sets up over his corn. Texts me at6 3:30 saying he has 6 doe in the field. At 4:30 I hear 2 shots. A doe left and went back into the woods when she came back trhis 10 pt was in tow. lol he gets it done again! Muzzy and the Holiday hunt I will be glued to my corn field.
  12. Nice buck but you can't guess that from the picture.
  13. Looked for 2 hrs this morning. I found nothing.
  14. Walking out tonight same thing happened. They came right into my corn. Took a shot at a doe think I hit her but we looked for an hour three of us. I will go back in the morning and walk the hill. She did a mule kick as I play it out.
  15. This was our first year with Crossbow, it was a lo9t of fun. I'm not putting it down but it offered my kid a hunt when she came up Veterans day weekend. She picked it up and no time was putting the arrows right in the eye of the bull! We have a HYP Killerinstict 425. Seems nice but no crank on it. I cocked it once with wet boots on. Thing slipped out half way and got me in the nuts! lol Brother inlaw just got a 10 pt (think that is the name) it has a crank and the thing is balanced real nice. I hear it was about $1500. That is pricey for me. Good luck I think it will take over Compound bows just like they did with the recurve. Sure Compounds will still be around but more and more Hunters are going to kill big bucks with these things and the masses will join in. It's ok it's the way things work. I'll be getting one this year for sure.
  16. Nope never. What keeps me from the woods is a nice warm bed on a nasty day. I have never thought the task at hand harvesting a deer to keep me out of the woods.
  17. Had a good feeling about today. Light west winds low 30's saw a Donkey of a doe with two yearlings. Did not offer me a shot. This was morning. Had to go in deep to a stand that I just love. West wind is best and it paid off. I was in by 2 and heard deer around 3:45. Got up and got ready and a big doe headed right to me. Shot through shoulder she went 20 yards. I'm very hyappy!
  18. Was invited to hunt my neighbors property. There will be three of us. They will be in stand by 6:30 I'll still hunt my way down through them. Haven't seen a deer in a week. If nothing this morning I'm going in deep to a stand that borders a big bedding area made up mostly of pine. GL
  19. After this season I think we will have a few crossbows in the field. They are fast, accurate and deadly. Easy to use also. You still have to be in the right place at the right time to kill a giant.
  20. Haven't seen a deer in a week. Something got to give!
  21. I have a dead ash on the side of my corn field that is cracked towards the bottom. If its not down by tomorrow i'll cut it.
  22. I believe that area has antler restrictions? I had a place in Roscoe many years ago. My Father inlaw and his brothers would hunt the state land there on Morton Hill road. A lot of history there. So when I had my place there which was on that road I met two late season hunters from PA. They had two bucks in the truck. One was huge! We talked and of course the question I raise is where you get him. That area has like 15000 acres of state land. He told me they dont camp right off the road they hike it in. All predetermined by using Topo maps. Then he says we hunt the shelves off of the mountain sides. A place where no one else goes. Give them credit!
