  1. I have the Marlin 336 in stainless, I've only had it 2 years, but never any problems so far. Mine is chambred in 30-30, it works for where and what I hunt. Not sure what caliber you are looking for , or if you would prefer a bolt action to a lever. Levers work better for me as a left handed shooter.
  2. I would think that hunting an area where deer gather would be a good idea. Get set up upwind, and in some cover and see what happens.
  3. I love the family, the countryside, the changing seasons, the woods, lakes and streams, but my God the politicians are screwing this place up. I don't know if I'll ever get out but I sure hope my kids do.
  4. Hope your recovery is going well, my wife just had c spine surg and I'm seeing how tough the recovery can be.Welcome back
  5. an honest politician, oh wait a chupacabra is alot more likley
  6. I keep my guns locked up, out of fear they will go on a rampage
  7. Any man made noise is irritating, yeah the squirrels and chipmunks are noisy, but they don't bother me the way man made noises do. One of my favorite time passing games in the woods is to try and find the times that there is no man made noise to be heard. It's a rare thing for no planes, trains, trucks, saws etc... to be audible. Oh and I love the waves of little "tweety birds" that pass thru the woods.
  8. Hunting with your kids is the best. No success you have can rival your joy at their success.
  9. Nice, Congrats on your win !
  10. I'm with Doc on this one, I don't like heights, I don't bow hunt and have had my share of success from the ground. I'll settle for sitting on a fallen tree , or going up and sitting on a ridge for some elevation.
  11. Part of our hunting group for years was a husband wife team, funny thing was the husband usually split off with his brother and the wife spent time in the woods with her father.
  12. scent free body wash and deodorant, scent free laundry soap.
  13. 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, bought it used with aprox 40,000 mi on it. Its now over 150,000. I want a truck, but I'm really enjoying not having a payment.
  14. Dec 9 - 13. We bid vacation based on seniority and I don't have much.
  15. I find it interesting that in many circles shooting a bird (waterfowl) sitting on the ground is not sporting, or is unethical, and shooting a running deer is considered the same.
  16. I'm sorry, please clarify for me what typical gun hunter is?
  17. First light, Thanks ,she will be OK. She required major cervical spine surgery, but is getting good care, and is also the toughest person I know.
  18. What a great sunrise in Wny going on right now. I jus wish I wasn't seeing it from my wifes hospital room!
  19. I loved the hunters quote "I unloaded on it again to make sure it was dead."
  20. There are slide fire videos on youtube, including one showing a drum fed 12 gauge. The gun just about drives the guy out of the video frame with recoil. It looks like fun way to fire a gun, but no practical use that I can see.
  21. Nice to hear good news, enjoy your hunting season !
  22. Not being an archer, this weathter makes me think about steelhead fishing ! Another month and the fish will be coming up the creeks !
  23. Now I can forget about the A/C in my car being broken for another 8 or so months !
