  1. If it's on your land do as you please. Reporting it to the police seems like the right thing to do.
  2. I don't think ant self rspecting bear would go near that POS
  3. Have allways used a fanny pack w/ one lg compartment in the center , and smaller ones toward the sides. Don't get carried away with brining too much stuff, have what you need for hunting , light first aid, and a poss stay overnight.
  4. I had to have an exterminator in a month ago. I woke up and there were a couple of yellow jackets in the bedroom, came back from my shower and there were more than a dozen, came back up from breakfast and there were.... well ALOT ! I could see a pencil sized hole in the ceiling drywall, going up into the crawlspace. Called an exterminator before work , about 7:00 am and left a message. I cranked up the AC at that point also. The wife reported thruout the day she could hear them in the bedroom buzzing. I got home about 5:00 pm and the exterminator had just arrived. He checked the bedroom and said they were all dead or dormant from the temp of the room. He sprayed the outside of the house where the yellowjackets were coming and going., and said to call again in the next few days if they returned. I vacumed 6 inches if bees out of the globe covering the lightbulbs on our ceiling fan ! I don't know what he sprayed, but it worked, no problems since, a little caulk to seal up the hole (popcorn ceiling) and all done.
  5. sumac ? not sure when those would have berries
  6. looks like he was worth the wait ! hope to see you in a picture with him soon !
  7. We have to remember who these people are that come up with this garbage on election day
  8. Change your screen name to doewacker 2? Sorry could'nt resist. Actually I can sympathize, in 20 plus years of hunting I have taken one nice 8 point buck. Some years no deer, some a doe I have had chances for other good bucks but not got them for various reasons, too painful to recount.
  9. That's a great solution for a guy who wants to hunt but can't / won't use the game he takes.
  10. I take the breasts out of them and have had them several ways. The meat is dark, allmost reminds me of heart. Love bacon wrapped goose Kabobs (but what wrapped in bacon is'nt good !) I hunt cut corn fields, not sure if birds taken off water would be different.
  11. Just another thought or two, I enjoy goose hunting over cut corn fields. I was usually able to get permission for goose hunting. After establishing a relationship with the landowner and proving I was responsible and not a slob, I would occasionally be offered the opportunity to deer hunt the same farm. Perhaps a similar approach (would'nt have to be goose, but some other less sought after hunting opportunity) could open some doors. I would also consider thinking about who you know and what they do for a living. I spent many years working in home healthcare and between my travels and the other folks I worked with we covered alot of ground and talked to alot of people. You may know salesmen, service people , healthcare workers ... who can steer you to some potential landowners.
  12. The lack of respect is unbelievable. How do people feel entitled to walk your land / hunt your land/ use your equipment. ! It's unreal, who raised these idiots ? I always longed for a hunting camp with land of my own, the more I read the more I can be happy with being a state land hunter.
  13. From what the DEC officer told you, it seems like rearranging the fallen apples would'nt constitute baiting if done in an area where hunting would otherwise be OK.

  15. Photoshop ? Either way an awesome pic ! Clearly Milwaukee fans !
  16. Time to really start shopping I guess, that or go back to the 12 ga slugs I used for years. Or is'nt there someone here thats allways wanting to hunt with a hammer ? maybe its time to give that a serious look !
  17. So much more sad after reading a little about the man in Spokane. WW II combat vet, wounded in the Battle for Okinawa, now a widower, retired after 30+ years in industry, waiting outside his favorite pool hall for a friend because he did'nt want her to walk home alone. sounds like a stand up guy, I can only hope those pukes get a small taste of thier own medicine.
  18. I hope they have some ammo, I need 30-30, .22, and .223
  19. We did a "Staycation " one year, did all touristy things in the WNY area. Our day on the Canadian side of the Falls was the best. It was nice to rediscover what's in our own back yard.
  20. Are they in a yard or on a golf course !?
  21. The usual cheese and pep, but I do like green olives also. Hold the onions.
